Pachyman is the musical project of Puerto Rican-born, Los Angeles-based musician Pachy Garcia that’s amassed an international following on the back of a dub reggae sound that pays homage to genre masters like King Tubby and Scientist not only via technique and form but through a kindred pursuit of bleeding edge, boundary-expanding sonics.

Another Place, his fifth album for ATO Records due out May 23, is Pachyman’s most daring project to-date, one that builds upon its forebears by leaning into the idiosyncratic elements lurking beneath previous projects. In doing so, it synthesizes the myriad scenes that have recontextualized the methods and aesthetics of dub — from pioneering synth-pop weirdos like William Onyeabor and Yellow Magic Orchestra to Basic Channel’s amniotic dub techno — into a sound that, while still anchored in dub reggae’s glorious walls of sound, is undeniably Pachyman’s own.

The songs, affected with disc rot, were shared via Mega and Zippyshare download links.

Known to many as the vocalist and co-writer of the electronic duo Vallis Alps, Parissa Tosif has long navigated two worlds: the luminous pulse of modern pop and the spiritual inheritance of her Iranian ancestry. In a landscape where much of pop music trades in surfaces, Parissa Tosif offers depth — a mirror held up to memory, identity, and the quiet resilience of ordinary lives in extraordinary times. With the spirit of household classics as Kourosh Yaghmaei and Googoosh to James Blake and Sevdaliza, her music is a bold contemplation of connection to place from the place of the diaspora.

Today, POND boasts an impressive catalog of recorded music, spanning ten critically-acclaimed albums. Since its beginnings, POND’s prowess in the live arena has also been well documented. Sharing the stage with artists such as Flaming Lips, Queens of the Stone Age, Arctic Monkeys and more, they have also been on major festival lineups worldwide like Glastonbury, Coachella, Splendour in the Grass, and The Great Escape.

After setting online circles alight as a teenager in her bedroom in Baton Rouge, the elusive producer, singer, and multi-instrumentalist Portraits of Tracy became a fascinating contender for the pop music’s evolution.

Q: From Where Do Our Primal Instincts Originate A: MTV! (out July 24) marks a confident new stage in her evolution, one where she reintroduces herself in glorious technicolor. Disruptive, experimental, and ultra-vivid, Tracy’s sound draws on indelible memories: a childhood spent locked into DC hardcore, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, and when MTV reigned supreme.

It’s a playful successor to 2023’s Drive Home: an extraordinary statement of autonomy and sonic freedom, the 18-track concept record is an analogy for Tracy’s own journey in accepting herself as transgender and finding her voice as a Black, queer teen raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Through the lens of Junie, the album’s central character, Tracy frantically whips between elements of classic rock, hip-hop, R&B, soul, and psychedelic indie rock to tell a story of family, belonging, and the importance of staying true to your gut — all guided by her prodigious musical talent.
