Sonny Ism is Australian-born artist Xavier Bacash. After growing up in Melbourne and playing in multiple soft rock bands, Xavier moved to Copenhagen Denmark to spread his musical wings and learn a new language. After taking the pulse of his new context and finding influence in the progressive and sustainable focus of Scandinavian life, Xavier pitched his tent and felt the inspiration and ingredients around him for a new project – Sonny Ism. He began throwing parties and playing alongside the likes of Danish dance music legends Manmade Deejay & CK (Regelbau) and Kasper Marott (Kulør). His Plastic Worlds and CE EPs made waves in the European underground music scene, all released on his self-founded record label ‘Northern Underground Records’. His track ‘Desert Days’ notched up 1 million plays shortly after, paving way for the release of his debut album ‘Union: Integration Of The Shadow’ in 2020. The album received FBi Radio’s coveted Packet Album of the Week, Triple R’s Soundscape Record of the Week and landed in Beat Magazine’s top 10 albums of 2020.
