#1 Dads, the solo project of Tom Iansek and longstanding fixture of the Australian music scene for over two decades will traverse 17 dates for a suite of solo performances, covering the breadth of the #1 Dads discography alongside his new work, Every Little Fire. This intimate live setup is set to be an arresting experience – one man and his instrument in full force, animated by intimate, understated arrangements and his lyrical honesty.
An elated Iansek shares, “As you may already know I moved to the UK a few years ago but I have thoroughly missed Australia and I have really missed being on the road. I’ve missed the pre-show nerves, chatting to people after shows, the Hume, coffee and car tunes, finding the best place to eat. This tour is special as I’ll be performing by myself, which is fairly new to me and certainly new to #1 Dads, the beauty of this means that I can take the show well off the beaten path, which you can see from all the amazing regional dates. I’m so stoked to be performing all of these shows, playing some new tunes from the album (along with some classics) and I hope you can make it along to one. There’ll be an array of merch too which has all been designed by me.”
The record holder for most sold out Oxford Art Factory appearances in succession (five dates back to back) and one half of the multi-award winning Big Scary and No Mono, Iansek is beloved across both projects alongside his production demand, loaning his gentle melodies and a less-is-more approach to Maple Glider, Kate Miller-Heidke, The Paper Kites, Ruby Gill, Lisa Mitchell, and more.
Since debuting as #1 Dads with 2011’s Man of Leisure, Iansek further showcased his sincere, quietly innovative songcraft with 2014’s ARIA-nominated About Face and 2020’s Golden Repair. His solo return after six years was born from a period of profound personal upheaval for Iansek. A transatlantic relocation, a growing family, the particular vertigo of dismantling one life and building another from scratch.
“It was not an easy thing to do,” Iansek says. “It has been an insane, wonderful, chaotic, intense and joyful period of my life.” Every Little Fire, in both title and execution, takes that turbulence seriously as the Melbourne-bred, London-based artist’s most deeply personal record to date. First peek ‘Already Something‘ was praised by Atwood Magazine as “a radiant reintroduction to an artist whose songcraft has always carried uncommon weight – and whose influence reaches far beyond this one project.”
Produced and mixed by Iansek himself, in small rooms, including a DIY bedroom studio, Every Little Fire reflects the conditions of its making. Imperfections were left in. Longer, unvarnished takes. Tempo fluctuations. Breaths. The result is an album that sounds handmade in the best sense: intimate without being precious, and honest without being confessional for its own sake.
At its height, Every Little Fire displays a master of their craft surrendering to the game of life and how to play it. Come October, Tom Iansek will bring it all back to music’s most emotionally resonant format of human connection.
ABOUT #1 DADS
#1 Dads is the solo project of Tom Iansek, a valuable, proudly independent fixture of the Australian music scene for over two decades as one half of the multi-award-winning Big Scary and No Mono, and an in-demand producer (Maple Glider, Kate Miller-Heidke, The Paper Kites, Ruby Gill, Lisa Mitchell, and more).
Animated by intimate, understated arrangements and lyrical honesty, #1 Dads is a perfect introduction to Iansek’s sonic authenticity and rich, rewarding music. His gentle melodies and less-is-more production make for homely yet sophisticated pop songs that have seen the Australian-born, London-based artist become an unassuming cult favourite, beloved with fans and critics alike.
Debuting as #1 Dads with 2011’s Man of Leisure, Iansek further showcased his sincere, quietly innovative songcraft with 2014’s ARIA-nominated About Face and 2020’s Golden Repair. Born of a period of dramatic upheaval, Every Little Fire is the Melbourne-bred, London-based artist’s most deeply personal record yet.
