1300, the Australian-Korean alt-rap phenomenon today announce their debut Australian tour, ‘1300 Mania’, taking the east coast this May. With the news, they also share their collaborative music video with Ron titled ‘Mosh’. WATCH HERE + TICKETS ON SALE HERE.
Having marked their quickly sold-out headline debut at Sydney Opera House for VIVID, 1300 have played densely-populated support slots alongside Genesis Owusu, Confidence Man, PNAU, Paloalto, collaborated with Ugly Duck, Ninajirachi, Young Franco, and Taka Perry amongst others, and their triple j Like A Version of Psy’s ‘Gangnam Style’ set the music festival circuit ablaze recently across Golden Plains, Spilt Milk, Falls Festival, Lost Paradise and more.
In their first independent headline tour, this May they’ll be making stops in Naarm / Melbourne, Eora / Sydney and Meanjin / Brisbane and will be joined by some of Australia’s most exciting underground rap artists – a high-energy family affair that includes Srirachi, GOLD DIGGERS CLUB, SOLLYY, Sidney Phillips, Lil Ket and stealthyn00b.
Presenting the eclectic nature of their influences front and centre, the dynamic five-piece have enhanced their hip-hop-come-electronic sound to previously unseen or heard corners of their sound. Multifaceted as ever, punters can expect lots of high-octane and full-throttle chaos that is spearheaded by their cross-suave pop, hyperpop and RNB. To coincide with the tour announcement, 1300 have also joined forces with Korean collaborator Ron in a new music video titled ‘Mosh’, as part of Ron’s latest double single release dead or alive. Lyrically, the track speaks to the notion of a mosh pit and it being a new fascination in Korea. WATCH THE VIDEO FOR ‘MOSH’ HERE.
1300 closed their breakout year with a string of accolades across the release of their Foreign Language mixtape, including but not limited to their recent shortlist in the coveted Australian Music Prize, landing #23 in the NME Best Australian Albums of the Year list + a spot in the NME 100 for 2023, FBi RadioSMAC Award Nominations for Album of the Year and Best Video for ‘Oldboy’, that won the triple j and Rage Australian Music Video of the Year J Award; internationally selected as HiphopLE‘s Group of the Year and Hiphopplaya‘s Upcoming Artists for 2022; a feature in Netflix’s viral Heartbreak High reboot and most significantly, selected by the Australian Council for the Arts‘ Contemporary Music TouringProgram and soundtrack to Samsung’s Galaxy Flip4 launch campaign, 1300 continue to pave the way for the next generation of the Asian diaspora.
Over the summer, their recent releases including the Valentines’ Day-dedicated mixtape <3, ‘Steve Jobs ft. Kwame’ and the SOLLYY produced ‘CARDIO!’ have continued to push 1300 forward as a unique outfit of culture and talent, most notably nationally and abroad in South Korea. Consistently praised by The Guardian, Complex Australia, VICE, Pedestrian, Junkee, Red Bull Music, triple j, RAGE, MTV, The Music, Music Feeds, and national community radio support heralding their ability to continue to push boundaries musically and pop-culturally, what won’t 1300 do next?
