Without Words” is out now, buy/stream it here.

Today, singer-songwriter Delilah Montagu — fresh off winning her second-ever GRAMMY — shares “Without Words,” a new song that showcases her sophisticated, harmony-strewn synthesis of classic songwriting and alt-pop peculiarity. With an economical but imagistic style that falls somewhere between Paul Simon and Lorde, Delilah sketches a narrative of a runaway romance in Mexico City. The track’s propulsive and percussive instrumental gives way to a gorgeously pitch-shifted chorus that proves that, while she’s certainly learned some textural production tricks from her work with Fred again.., Delilah possesses a stunning songwriting vision that is all her own. Listen to “Without Words” here.

“Without Words” appears on a new EP entitled The Bird, due out June 14. The first in a series of upcoming releases, The Bird showcases Delilah’s pairing of vulnerable reckonings and symphonic, sumptuous soundworlds. It’s the careful culmination of Delilah’s unique musical journey, a refinement of perspective from an artist whose speedy rise to fame required a recalibration of sorts.

Recently, Delilah was featured as the cover star of NOTION 94. Wrote NOTION of her next creative steps: “Call it confessional, call it storytelling, call it therapy, Delilah Montagu found her songwriting groove and stayed true to it. Seeking both catharsis and creative outlet from her work, she often processes how she feels by making music.”

With over 2.5 million monthly Spotify listeners, the London-born, LA-based pop singer-songwriter is best known by way of her GRAMMY-winning, chart-topping features on Fred again..’s “Delilah (Pull Me Out Of This)” (from Fred’s Best Dance / Electronic Music Album-winning Actual Life 3)  and “Drive” with Black Coffee and David Guetta (from Black Coffee’s Best Dance / Electronic Music Album-winning Subconsciously).

But now Delilah’s solo work is turning heads as well: Delilah’s most recent solo single “Coffee” (which also appears on The Bird) was featured as the BBC Introducing Track of the Week on Radio 1 and was praised by the likes of from Billboard (“gorgeous and intimate”), NYLON (“it’s time to know her solo as a soulful, pop-sensible songwriter”), and more. Says British GQ: “With a rich, mellow vocal range and influences from Carole King to Father John Misty, Montagu is staking a strong claim to the storied tradition of confessional balladeers.”
