Agung Mango, Naarm/Melbourne based rapper, today shares his first taste of new music for 2021 with forthright singles ‘120fps / WISEFOOL’. Listen HERE.

A pivot from the gritty and brash ‘LITTLE BUM‘, the slinky funk infused ‘120fps’ sees Mango take a moment to reflect inward, sincerely and honestly commenting on his state of being. Here Agung reflects on confronting his inner demons, where the bombastic prodigal son realises he is the only one standing in his way of success. ‘120fps’ is a call to step off the seesaw of a love-hate relationship within yourself.

Opening up for the first time, Agung shares “The relationship discussed in the song is a metaphor used to describe the struggles and dependencies I’ve had in the past with using drugs. Throughout the past few years it has been an ongoing journey of myself battling depression and addictions, while simultaneously just trying to stay afloat. This song is me coming to the realisation that these dependencies were constantly dragging me into a dark place and slowing me down, and was something that I needed to let go of in order to achieve all the things I want to do in life.”

In channelling the softer sides of Earl Sweatshirt and Tyler, the Creator, B-Side ‘WISEFOOL’ serves as Agung’s interpretation of the dreamstate. Shifting through time and space as one moves in and out of consciousness, Mango continues, “I wanted the freedom to be able to unapologetically write a song that didn’t just have to have only one premise or storyline, similar to how dreams are like. It is free flowing and spontaneous, and I just laid down whatever was on my mind at the time.”

The release of ‘120fps / WISEFOOL’ follows a busy 2020 for Agung Mango who dropped ‘LITTLE BUM‘ to widespread support from triple j and Unearthed, NME, Acclaim, Purple Sneakers, FBi Radio and more; and later his collaborative SON OF AGUNG EP with Nikodimos, the rapper continues to re-affirm his position as one of the most exciting artists in the Australian underground, with his popularity continuing to boil in the rap scene. This year, Agung Mango promises to leave no stone unturned with the release of more music, while also joining Genesis Owusu on his upcoming national tour this April/May. Stay tuned for more from Agung Mango in 2021, who continues to rise with every next step.
