With both rappers representing England and Germany respectively, ‘Baddies’ showcases Aitch and Luciano’s captivating rap flow as both artists utilise the prominent football rivalry for their latest offering. Utilising the iconic ‘Baianá’ sample, ‘Baddies’ is accompanied by a music video starring Angry Ginge, Tays, Birmingham City and Jamaica Women’s defender Shiv Wilson and members of the Hertha Berlin Women’s Team, and takes its inspiration from the legendary adverts of football’s past.
Aitch and Luciano have worked together previously, collaborating on the German rapper’s 2022 single ‘Bamba’ with US rap queen BIA, which hit the #1 spot in Germany. This was Aitch’s first international #1 single release, and ‘Baddies’ is set to add to the successes of both rap talents.
One of the biggest rappers from Germany in recent times, Berlin-based rapper Luciano continues to dominate the official and streaming charts domestically. Luciano’s 2022 album, Majestic, has garnered over 400 million streams to date and he swiftly became the biggest German-language streaming artist that year. A solid stream of releases quickly followed, with his domestic success catapulting Luciano to international heights, having collaborated with artists across Europe, the US and the UK.
Not only is Aitch a talented rapper, but he’s also making waves in the business world. This year, he launched his flavoured fizzy water brand, SYPS – a successful venture he has now added the title of ‘entrepreneur’ to his already impressive resume. Aitch recently released previous single, ‘Famous Girl’, which launched as Jack Saunders’ ‘Hottest Record’ on his BBC Radio 1 show.
Aitch wrapped up 2023 with the release of his 7-track EP Lost Files, featuring collaborations with the likes of Potter Payper, Nafe Smallz, and Cordae, among others. Additionally, he headlined Parklife and took Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage by storm last year, and more recently, Aitch returned to BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend’s main stage and will appear at Capital FM’s Summertime Ball later this month.
‘Baddies’ sees Aitch and Luciano go 1 v 1 with their rap flair and penmanship, both artists representing countries rich in football history. Like ‘World In Motion’ and ‘Three Lions’ before it, ‘Baddies’ will undoubtedly add to the excitement around the upcoming UEFA EURO 2024 Tournament.
