BRIT Award-winning rapper Aitch releases his highly-anticipated second album, 4, out today via NQ Records/The Orchard. LISTEN HERE.
The lead single, ‘COL4 BODY,’ featuring Tiggs Da Author, is an afro-pop/funky-house-inspired track that is sure to become a sonic staple this Summer. Its alluring afro-pop, dance, hip-hop, and funky-house-influenced construction allows Aitch to reinforce his broad abilities as a rapper.
4 is a collection of sixteen tracks, with top-ranking UK production duos MOJAM and WhyTek at the helm. Inspiration from classic US hip-hop titans such as Nas, 50 Cent, and Eminem is weaved throughout. Aitch’s new album marks the fourth era of his music career and continues to pay tribute to his Mancunian roots with the live stage in mind.
Sharply lethal in its arrival, 4’s opener, ‘CLOCK THE G4ME,’ sees Aitch sear himself into the listener’s ear, re-affirming who exactly he is. Tributing his Mancunian roots, Aitch summons the locally revered Chimpo, an intergenerational embrace also as decades lie between both rappers, with both Northerners plainly painting the picture for listeners to move forward with.
The R&B and neo-soul grooves of ‘LOCKED IN,’ featuring singer/songwriter Tamera, showcase a nuanced portrayal of love, lust, and romantic conflict. Meanwhile, Manchester and London unite again, with peer and close friend AJ Tracey linking up with Aitch on ‘TEST’. Both continue to deliver, on top form from start to finish, the moody, down-tempo piano keys following the pair’s enigmatic brand of braggadocio. Aitch and AJ Tracey debuted a snippet of the track during their epic B2B at BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Liverpool last month.
Aitch’s new album isn’t as introspective as its predecessor, the #2 charting debut, Close To Home; however, new track ‘M40’ — an ode to Aitch’s Mancunian postcode — recalls the rapper’s childhood, the environments in his purview as a young adolescent, the poignance of such experiences marked by the infusion of AZ’s infamous lines in the Nas-led ‘Life’s A B*tch’. ‘ROOM 44’, 4’s conclusion, allows Aitch the solace of looking in the mirror and putting his contentions in the booth. Recent servings, ‘TILL L4TE‘ featuring South London rapper Pozer, the adrenaline-induced ‘BOUNCE’ and The Neptunes-inspired ‘LUV?‘ featuring Anne-Marie, also features on 4.
To celebrate the release of his new album, Aitch will embark on a 11-date UK store tour and signings, which kicks off in London this evening. He will then appear across Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, Glasgow, Newcastle, Leeds and more.
Aitch has had a tremendous start to 2025, kicking off his year with ‘Raving In The Studio’, his Top 40 collaboration with fellow Mancunian Bou, alongside freestyle, ‘A Guy Called?’. Surprise drop ‘STRAIGHT RHYMEZ 2‘ sees Aitch roll back the years to where it all began, issuing an updated rendition of his 2018 breakout track, which topped the UK trending videos on YouTube upon release. Armed with an ability to cruise across genres seamlessly, 4 ushers in a compelling new era for Aitch, showcasing his growth, versatility, and signature sharp lyricism. All of this is embroiled amongst the fun and games, the charm and incessancy his whole persona encapsulates.
