Today, Portland-born rapper Aminé shares the new song and video ‘Charmander’. LISTEN HERE + WATCH HERE

The single represents a new sonic chapter for Aminé, featuring a bubbly and clubby beat buoying his tongue-in-cheek lyrics about reclusion and introspection. ‘Charmander’ is featured as part of Apple Music’s New Music Daily and, in conjunction with that, Aminé discussed the track with Zane Lowe, who featured the song on his Apple Music 1 radio show this morning. The video, co-directed by Aminé himself and Jack Begert, arrives in conjunction with the new track that sees Aminé living the simple life with his partner in a wide-windowed cabin in the Oregon wilderness.

‘Charmander’ marks the first offering from Aminé in 2021 following the release of his acclaimed 2020 album Limbo, which features standout songs like ‘Compensating (ft. Young Thug)‘, ‘Woodlawn‘ and ‘Shimmy‘.

Speaking about the genesis of ‘Charmander’, Aminé shares, “After the release of Limbo I took some time to experiment and challenge myself to create in ways I hadn’t before — exploring different textures and tempos without any expectations. ‘Charmander’ was the first product of that period that felt natural while still being at a completely different BPM than any of my previous work”. Listen to and watch ‘Charmander’ above and stay tuned for more from Aminé coming soon.
