Across the season, Liberty Hall Courts transform into an open-air party, before the energy carries inside to Liberty Hall for After Dark. A respected series that celebrates the dance community, Summer Dance’s carefully curated lineups bring together international tastemakers and exciting local names, built for soundtracking long afternoons and nights that stretch far beyond the last track.
With more events to be unveiled over the summer, the first edition takes place this November 29 with Club Angel, Crÿbaby and Bryson Hill taking over the courts before heading indoors for Ninajirachi, 1tbsp and 2touch.
As one of Australia’s most electrifying and distinctive dance music artists, Eora’s UK speed garage producer Club Angel’s sets are nothing short of visceral journeys. Expect anthemic vocals, punching bass, and hard-hitting jungle, all stitched together with the skill of a true selector who thrives on keeping club-goers on their toes track after track.
Joining him is Crÿbaby, the dynamic Naarm-based DJ and producer renowned for her fearless, genre-blurring sets that traverse Global Club, Ghetto Tech, Dembow and Hard Dance. With her boundary-pushing sound and infectious energy, Crÿbaby has become one of the most sought-after names in Australia’s vibrant club scene.
Completing the day lineup is Bryson Hill, whose sound has travelled from Gadigal/Sydney to London and earned him shows across both continents and a debut EP on respected UK label Shall Not Fade. With a big year ahead, Hill brings an exciting edge to the courts.
As one of Australia’s most innovative and distinctive emerging producers with her feet firmly planted in the international music landscape, leading the After Dark charge is Ninajirachi. With an artistry that builds unimaginable worlds to defy boundaries in dance music categories, she’ll be bringing her futuristic and forward-thinking underground EDM sound to the dancefloor.
Next up is 1tbsp, the dynamic house and dance music project and Grammy Award nominee. A standalone force in electronic music that blends genres with ease, 1tbsp pushes boundaries, crafting tracks that are both innovative and irresistibly danceable, bridging cultures and scenes.
Rounding out the lineup is rising selector 2touch, whose cross-genre sounds fuse the familiar with the delightfully off-kilter. From cryptic yet stickily melodic vocal samples to sparkling synths and warped basslines, 2touch creates a never-ending pool of wide-eyed discovery – a catalyst for community and the thread that stitches together memories, and the atmosphere that surrounds all of us.
A party built on community and expression, Summer Dance has become a fixture of Gadigal/Sydney’s cultural calendar, each edition a chapter in the city’s summer story.
