Global hitmaker and Grammy-nominated producer Baauer shares one final preview of his forthcoming third studio album U, landing this Friday 12 June, via LUCKYME®. Together, the tracks underline the central idea behind U: music that feels shared, uplifting and emotionally direct. Executive-produced by Hudson Mohawke, the album plays like a long-lost Radio 1 Essential Mix, moving seamlessly between French-touch euphoria, big-beat maximalism, disco-house hooks and Baauer’s signature cut-and-paste approach. In recent years, that fascination with sampling has extended beyond the studio, with Baauer building a substantial online following through his breakdowns tracing the origins of iconic samples and uncovering the stories behind some of his favourite records. “I truly love the process of digging, going through a bajillion YouTube videos to find a cool five seconds,” he says.

The album features a close circle of collaborators, including Aluna, KUČKA, Brazy and Betsy, alongside piano from Eli Teplin and additional production from Parisi. U also marks the culmination of a creative breakthrough that began during the pandemic, when Baauer started making music live on Twitch. “Doing that cracked open my process — people could see me the whole time, from starting a beat to finishing” he says. Producing in real time forced him to trust instinct over perfection, giving fans an unprecedented window into his creative world.
