Body Type share new single & video ‘Free To Air’, EP2 out May 3 via Partisan Records / Inertia Music
BODY TYPE today share their new single and video for ‘Free To Air’ taken off their forthcoming release EP2 out via Partisan Records / Inertia Music this May 3. Listen here, watch the video shot, directed and edited by Matthew Griffin below.
The track’s lead vocalist and guitarist Annabel Blackman shares, “Free To Air is about an old neighbour whose life seemed to play out entirely in his lounge room in front of the TV, which he blasted day and night. My bedroom faced onto his lounge room, so it was almost like we were waking up and watching the morning news together, or having a TV dinner after work. Definitely not that romantic in reality though.”
Of the video the band notes, “Matthew Griffin is a master manipulator of screens and could slice us into an assortment of scenes and onto bodies without needing us to be physically present in the process, which is the perfect disembodied embodiment to accompany the song.”
The track comes hot off the back of the band’s debut US tour including the inaugural SXSW Festival, where the band were praised by the likes of Brooklyn Vegan, DIY Mag, Austin Chronicle and more for their “personality-drenched, fuzzy indie-rock…riddled with earworm hooks but delivered with an easy, chilled out charm.”
‘Free To Air’ follows ‘Stingray’, the first track taken from the band’s upcoming release EP2. This is the bands second release following their self-titled debut EP in late in 2018. Consisting of radio favourites ‘Ludlow (Do You Believe In Karma?)’, ‘Arrow’, ‘Palms’ and ‘Teeth‘, the release received critical acclaim from the likes of the FADER, DIY Mag, NME, KEXP, Beats 1’s Matt Wilkinson, BBC Radio 1’s Jack Saunders, FBi Radio, Double J, triple j’s Declan Byrne and more.
Body Type head to the UK and Europe for a run of headline shows and festival plays including Live At Leeds Festival (Leeds), Hit The North Festival (Newcastle), The Great Escape in Brighton and London Calling in Amsterdam. See full dates and details below.
Along with the digital release of the EP, the band will be selling double-sided 12″ vinyls, including the Body Type EP and EP2 for the first time.
