Today, DoloRRes & Cherry Chola — two rising, convention-defying stars in the rapidly cross-pollinating Australian neo-club scene — share JACUZZI, their exhilarating and sex-intoxicated new mixtape of left field reggaeton rave-ups. The project comes with another melted, internet- and sex-obsessed video for focus track “Al Meno.” The mixtape is released via Sydney-based independent label TRACKWORK (Vv Pete, T Breezy, Walkerboy), a trailblazing entity in the proliferation of progressive, cross-cultural music that focuses on pulling local movements into the global consciousness.
JACUZZI is a dizzying showcase for their inimitable multilingual chemistry. Throughout, Venezuelan-Australian artist Cherry Chola’s Spanish vocals ricochet against Rome-based DoloRRes’ Italian wordplay in a simmering repartee, lending the project both a distinctive personality and a handy metaphor for intentions lost in translation during after-hours romantic endeavors.
“Al Meno,” today’s focus track, is a dark, end of days party song that encourages our most primal hedonistic urges in the end times. The duo puts it in the same category of intention as Kendrick’s “Swimming Pools (Drank):” Nihilistic escapism via voracious partying at it’s most mach-speed.
JACUZZI is labeled a mixtape by no mistake of its culturally astute creators. A nod to old school hiphop, intimately sharing with a community what one has handcrafted while simultaneously sharing with widely with ease. It’s a self-aware commentary on the sate of the internet and it’s glossed-over glassy eyed effect. With JACUZZI, all you have to do is pop it into your proverbial Sony Walkman and vibe.
Whether it’s flirtatious and titillating come-ons, unraveling toxic relationships, or uncertain sexual power dynamics, JACUZZI tackles its subject matter with an insatiable momentum. Its character sketches are much like its heady production: digitally-damaged, shadow-dappled, globally-fluid, and pulsing with the sensory overload of modern existence. As DoloRRes so succinctly describes it: “WhatsApp Music.”
ABOUT DOLORRES
Making music out of Australia and his birth city of Roma, Italy, DoloRRes is proving himself as one of Australia’s most exciting emerging artists. Sitting at the cross-section of sound and culture performing in English and his native Italian tongue, DoloRRes effortlessly blends an assortment of hip-hop and electronic influences with niche and often humorous lyricism, which point to a kid well acquainted with the localities of his surroundings in Australia and abroad.
Breaking out with his 2023 single ‘BOSCO’ DoloRRes quickly became one of Australia’s most singular and exciting artists to watch. BOSCO was praised by fans for its inventive blend of sampling, genre-bending and bilingual wordplay. His idiosyncratic sound deepened with follow up singles ‘Per Ben O Per Mal’ and reggaeton cut ‘AORA’ featuring Chilean vocalist JUPITA, landing national radio play on triple j, in international press, and features in local outlets ACCLAIM, NME and VICE. In 2024 DoloRRes released his EP ‘REAL LIFE MUSIC’ and subsequent remix package ‘REAL LIFE MUSIC: RELOADED’ featuring SWICK (Au) & JUCK (It), which culminated in sold out live performances across Melbourne and Sydney, and saw him open for Pretty Girl on her Australian tour. With recent release of Vv Pete’s Mashallah (Reworked) alongside the likes of producers Brodinski (Fr) and Clementaum (Br) via independent label Trackwork, live support for Manuka Honey’s Australia tour and performances at Big Sound and SXSW Sydney around the corner, DoloRRes is quickly becoming a household name in Australia’s burgeoning underground.
