Canberra-newcomer Ryan Fennis announces debut headline tour, watch new video for ‘Good Kid’ now

July 11 2019

Ryan Fennis today announces his debut headline tour this winter. Ahead of showcasing at Bigsound in September, Fennis is bringing his unique blend of jazz melody and Jai Paul-style beats to intimate solo shows in Melbourne, Sydney and his hometown Canberra across July and August.

Fennis has already taken us on a tour of his “virtuosic weirdness” on the recently released Detour EP. Now we can dive a little deeper into this world with the new video for ‘Good Kid‘, premiered by FBi Radio. Here, Fennis takes the front to video ‘Blair Witch Project’ angle and plays with it. Using a trail camera with back flash, he rotates it, slows it down and replays stills under an inverted greyscale filter. Watch it HERE.

Since writing ‘Good Kid‘, Fennis has wanted to release an accompanying video which featured “something disorientating and in your face” he says, too unique enough to match the bold percussion and vocal sample. He stumbled upon Ehzi AV, whose previous work was something he had “never seen before” but matched the vision in his head. See what else Ryan Fennis has brewing on his headline tour this July/August.
