Chanel Beads announces debut Australian shows this June
PRAISE FOR Chanel Beads
“Last year’s debut album, Your Day Will Come, laid the blueprint for Lavers’ sound: layered guitars, programmed drums, and warped samples that pull memory and emotion into the same strange orbit.”
“Lavers’ songs often end on the off-beat, or directly before the chorus should hit, as if your car radio abruptly lost signal. They feel ephemeral, like you’ll hum them for years but might never find them again.”
“Their music, a dense mist of reverb-washed violin, guitar and cymbals, hits like a wave, sharp and totalizing.”
“A stunning showcase of warped strings and acoustic anomalies that shimmer with its own unique, ghostly glow.”
“Chanel Beads' immersive performances are in a lane of their own, offering re-worked tracks that take on a whole new life and sound onstage”

At once a hazy relic and a digital snapshot of the human experience, Chanel Beads’ 2024 debut album Your Day Will Come announced Shane Lavers as a new force in experimental music. Featuring acclaimed singles ‘Police Scanner’ and ‘Embarrassed Dog’, throughout the album Lavers captures the many contradictions of modern existence and the strange infiniteness of the digital world. Though he incorporates the scrappy sonics of post-punk, the gripping sentimentality of pop tunes, and the spectral artifice of electronic music, he blurs lines through unconventional song structures that build into transcendental climaxes. As he intentionally prints his songs down to embed fried artifacts and ghostly remains, the resulting songs have a time-collapsing quality, both transitory and timeless.
Featuring songs that wrestled with loss that rippled through his life, foundational to the way he sees himself and the way he relates to others, Your Day Will Come was a breakthrough album for Chanel Beads. Praised locally across fbi radio (Packet Feature Album), triple j, 3RRR, PBS FM and more globally through Pitchfork, PAPER, Perfectly Imperfect, NTS and The Lot Radio among others, his debut was cherished as “complex, melancholic music that intentionally resists being placed in time” (Crack Magazine).
Continuing to break new ground together with support from collaborators singer-songwriter Maya McGoryand classically trained experimental violinist Zachary Paul, Chanel Beads has toured with headline shows in the UK and North America, opened for Lorde, Mount Kimbie and played Pitchfork Music Festival and SXSW. A self-observational project that offered an insightful philosophy into focusing only on what we can control, the album will receive its live Australian debut this June.
