I Feel Different Every Day (Deluxe) is out now via EQT, listen to and purchase it here.

Today, chlothegod — the North Carolina born, LA based singer-songwriter whose alternative rock take on richly soulful R&B defies genres — shares a poignant video for the title track for her most recent EP: “I Feel Different Every Day.” In the video, she examines who she could have been had she followed in her family’s footsteps. It’s an invigorating commentary on the freedom lauded over head, and the real freedom in staying true to your inner child. Watch the music video here, and listen to I Feel Different Every Day (Deluxe) here.

After chlo’s first ever US headline tour last month – to which she had to add a second NYC date after the first quickly sold out — she’ll quickly turn around to support Orion Sun; see all of the live dates below. Last month, chlothegod played at Pigeons & Planes’ Medium Sized Backyard, watch the transfixing full performance here. Further expanding her sonic world and community, she’ll also feature on Amine’s upcoming project.

“I Feel Different Every Day” is chlo’s apology to herself for making herself a stranger to the world around her, for wrapping herself in her own perfectionism. Of the video, she explains, “Growing up in a military town, with family who serves… my father’s life changed mine as his fathers changed his, and I wanted to show the parallel of what I could have become following that generational career path. The characters in the video represent all I am, and what I come from, but also all I could have been:

I could have been a wife with a son and a husband who serves; I chose to seldom show her face as you often fade to the back and are responsible for keeping your family uplifted. I could have been a solider, who was only ever represented as such, devoted to his country until death… either by the hands of his country or himself.

I feel most connected to the child. I kept my spirit eager to grow into something new, which lead me to a life of dreaming.

It’s a big conversation to have but I come from a place that intentionally strips you of your identity and holds freedom over your head, and rebelling against that system has given me a chance to encourage others to think deeply about the things they believe and I think that was an important story to tell.”

As a follow up to her acclaimed 2023 debut EP Nearly Straight, chlothegod stays sensitive in her storytelling, but the air is much different on I Feel Different Every Day — her rage, messiness, and exhaustion is felt deeply and heard loudly. The project is a document of a woman in her 20s, and chlo comes with a startling candor as she continues to figure out who she is and who she has yet to become. She’s as self aware as ever, and throughout the project, we’re invited in to uncover and examine her flaws (and likely our own at the same time).
