“La San has opened up a new world within her sound with gorgeous details that reveal themselves on multiple listens and huge, cinema-sized emotions”

The FADER

“Clara La San’s sound is singular. Her voice is effortless, slippery. Her lyrics have the unique quality of being disarmingly direct, moving between the confessional and meditative”

PAPER

“The slickest noughties R&B beat and Aaliyah-esque melodies we’ve heard in a minute”

NYLON

“She weaves observations on daily life into a sonic tapestry of synths, 90's trip-hop, and experimental R&B”

Old Me‘ is out now, buy/stream it here.

On the heels of a sold-out North American headline tour, visionary composer, producer, and vocalist Clara La San serves her devoted fans with a brand new single, ‘Old Me’, out now via CLS Music / AWAL. LISTEN HERE.

Another example of Clara’s distinctive worldbuilding sound, ‘Old Me’ captures the isolating spaces of solitude and hyper-awareness evoked during the traversal of uncertain and urgent emotions felt across life experiences – such as love and relationships. ‘Old Me’ pairs her signature velvety vocals with a gritty, thumping bassline against a delicate piano backdrop. A hypnotic alt-R&B ballad, ‘Old Me’ was written and produced by Clara, with co-production and co-writing from Grammy-winning producer Justin Raisen and Lewis Pesacov, and mixing by Grammy-nominated engineer Geoff Swan.

Clara shares about the single, “I find so much comfort in writing music that evokes a state of emergency. I see ‘Old Me’ as more of a listening experience, and I wanted to convey the stages of panic that we sometimes feel, and those disjointed, urgent, uncertain emotions.”

In October, Clara La San released the intoxicating and meticulously crafted ‘News‘ (co-produced by Yves Rothman), fusing pulsing beats with airy melodies and R&B textures, and highlighting her layered vocals and emotive songwriting. The track earned praise from The Kid Laroi, who shared a video playing ‘News‘ and remarked, “Her voice is crazy.” Clara was also recently revealed as a feature on celebrated producer BNYX’s new single ‘Telepathy Love‘ the focus track on his new EP Loading… With over 725 million global career streams and 2.5M+ per day across her catalog, multiple instantly sold-out headline shows (many upgraded to larger venues), and a growing community of fervent fans, Clara La San is quickly becoming one of the most exciting and magnetic artists shaping the sound of modern R&B.

In June of 2024, after years of building underground acclaim and fan anticipation, Clara released her highly anticipated debut album Made Mistakes to praise from The FADEROfficePaper MagNylon, and more. In December, she officially re-released her celebrated 2017 mixtape, Good Mourning — a reimagined version of the original including updated vocals, a fresh mix by Geoff Swan (Charli XCX, Caroline Polachek, HAIM, Florence And The Machine), and a new track and video ‘Enemy‘, produced by her longtime collaborator Jam City — marking a significant moment in her artistic evolution sharing the mixtape as she always intended it to be heard and seen. This year, standout track ‘Feel Good’ from Good Mourning has made the TikTok Top 50 chart, and has over 50 million streams across platforms.

While her music is steeped in a holistic listening of myriad musical strands—from early aughts R&B to contemporary rap instrumentals—Clara La San braids her influences with inspirations from cinema scores and up-to-the-second sound design to express a singular style of electro-soul and pop. Her palpable style is matched by a rare ability to conceive top-line vocal melodies, layered with lush harmonies that instantly imprint on the memory and have kept her growing, devoted fan base, including many other artists and peers, returning for more. With the release of ‘Old Me’, Clara continues to evolve her sound, with more new music and a video on the horizon.
