Cloud Control announce Bliss Release 15 year anniversary tour this May-June
PRAISE FOR Cloud Control
“Some of the most consistent songwriting to come from Australia since the loss of The Go-Betweens, and some of the most arcane performing available anywhere”
“There's an appealing open-heartedness about the debut from Australian psychedelic poppers Cloud Control”
“Whilst the vocals are immediately memorable, the complexity on ‘Bliss’ comes from its psychedelic influences”
“An early play for the feel-good record of 2011”
“Throughout Bliss Release, Cloud Control masterfully craft their own special brand of folk-infused, psychedelic pop”
“Not cooler-than-thou, and musically precise while retaining the playful looseness and imminent musical joy of psychedelic musical experimentation”
“Already being compared with acts as varied as MGMT and Belle and Sebastian… Bliss Release explores several different genres across the album, without sounding directionless or overly ambitious”
“Cloud Control dish up sophisticated sunny indie pop decked with layer upon layer of dreamy harmonies and jangly guitar”
“Bliss Release is an album that fully delivers on the promise evoked by its title”
“Cloud Control have permanently altered the taste of rock audiences across international borders”

Bliss Release is a seminal record in the Australian music canon and launch pad for Cloud Control, the Blue Mountains band who soundtracked a generation. Known for their lush harmonies and psych-folk sound, Al Wright, Heidi Lenffer and Ulrich Lenffer, will reunite with founding bassist Jeremy Kelshaw to perform Bliss Release front to back across May-June – the first time in over a decade, in tribute to the album that opened the world for them.
Cloud Control share “Making music with mates and family has always been the heart of what we’re about, and having the chance to perform these songs again with our brother Jez back on board is so special, and something we hadn’t counted on being possible. Bliss Release is the album that cracked the world open for our band. We love what we created with this record. It’s a time capsule and a friend. If it also means something to you, we want to share the love collectively with everyone who wants to lean in with us.” For Jeremy, “Making music with friends remains a mysterious and intoxicating pleasure. May we all find our reasons to be human, and remember, love is the best.”
Making waves everywhere in 2010, Bliss Release scoured critical acclaim from all corners: the Australian Music Prize, AIR’s Independent Album Of The Year, an fbi.radio SMAC Award and ARIA nominations for their anthems ‘Gold Canary’ and ‘There’s Nothing In The Water We Can’t Fight’, that reached #18 in the triple j Hottest 100 and ‘Just For Now’ would feature in the Magic Mike movie soundtrack. Bliss Release took the outfit to Laneway Festival, Meredith, Splendour In The Grass and beyond, establishing Cloud Control as a staple across Australian festival line ups long into their career.
With a reputation as a formidable live band, the group would go on to support major acts as Supergrass, Vampire Weekend, Weezer, Metronomy, The Drums, Foo Fighters, Local Natives and even relocating to London to tour extensively across the US and Europe – a testament to Cloud Control’s live resume, with much of the album that catapulted them coming together against a backdrop of bars and band rooms in Sydney. Come May-June, Bliss Release’s 15 year anniversary tour presents an opportunity to retrace and celebrate one of the country’s lauded acts’ breakout moment.
As part of the band’s commitment to creating an environmental legacy off the back of this tour, Cloud Control have partnered with FEAT.’s “Solar Slice” touring initiative so that $1 from each ticket will fund a ground-breaking, indigenous-led biodiversity regeneration program on Lungtalanana (Clarke Island), an 8,200 hectare island north of Tasmania. This is a multi-stakeholder partnership led by the Tasmanian Aboriginal Centre and supported by GreenCollar, WWF, and FEAT. This project aims to restore the degraded habitat of key native species, and re-introduce animals including the Bass Strait wombat and long-nosed potoroo. The band will be sharing more on this project in the tour lead up. See all tour routing details BELOW.
