After igniting imaginations with a wildly varied output across their still burgeoning career, daine’s reputation as one of the most chameleonic artists of their generation has been cemented. Traversing pop, metal, electronic music, emo, ambient and so much more, their forthcoming second  project  Shapeless embodies the exact kind of malleability that its name suggests, with daine experimenting with their sound on a much broader scale than ever before. Today they unveil ‘Portal’, one of the project’s most sonically diverse tracks and the sound of daine stepping into their alt-popstar era.

Produced by Waylon Dean as well as regular collaborators hearteyes and Lonelyspeck, ‘Portal’ is a break-fuelled explosion of electronic pop-punk, burned through with a fierce intensity. Opening with a signature daine guitar loop played at warp speed, the track’s hyperactive take on electronic pop is matched by daine’s own vocal power. Employing a fiery pop-punk delivery, their words inspire a nostalgic element that perfectly offsets the track’s dizzyingly futuristic production. ‘Portal’ is daine’s sonic world spinning off its own axis into a genre defying euphoric anthem of self celebration.

An artist set on laying multiple elements of their personality on display for the world to see, daine’s ever-expanding sonic universe is one for people of all walks of life to immerse themselves in, simultaneously finding something they can relate to.
