Building on the raw confidence of Djanaba’s earlier releases, ‘Broke Back Bitch’ introduces a softer, more gauzy take on her stamp of pop. Exploring themes that recount reality of all sorts, Djanaba builds a new layer of depth into her songwriting, highlighting the intersection between real life and alternate perspectives, strengthened by her own lived experience and vulnerability.
Of the new single, she shares “Broke Back Bitch is about how suffocating it can feel to be your own worst enemy. When you’re down on yourself so bad it feels like you’re drowning, you’re literally breaking down yourself from the inside out. When you finally find perspective only then do you truly understand how broken you’ve become from thoughts inside your own head.”
Unstoppable and unapologetic, Djanaba is a magnetic force in Australia’s pop-electronic scene. A proud Queer Bundjalung woman, Djanaba continues to break barriers and turn heads with a genre-defying sound that’s as bold as it is vulnerable. Known for her direct honesty, euphoric production and fearless expression, she is redefining what it means to be a pop artist on her own terms.
With a catalogue already boasting millions of streams – including the breakout collaboration with PNAU, ‘Big Titties’ – Djanaba’s vibrant singles like ‘Don’t Really Care’, ‘F.U.’ and ‘Way We Move’ have built a world of shimmering electronic pop where radical self-love and emotional depth coexist, finding fans across the press and radio board from the likes of triple j and Unearthed, iHeartRadio Australia, fbi.radio, 2SER, SYN FM, The Music, Music Feeds and more.
No stranger to the stage, Djanaba has also lit up some of Australia’s biggest festivals including Listen Out, Beyond The Valley, Lost Paradise, Wildlands, Spilt Milk, Summer Camp, MELT Festival (supporting Kah-Lo), and Sydney Festival. Her high-energy performances blend club-ready euphoria with deeply felt lyricism, only proving she is more than capable of holding her own.
