Vocalist, DJ and producer-songwriter Djanaba today brings us the first taste of her forthcoming debut project with ‘Times Like SIS’. LISTEN HERE.
‘Times Like SIS’ is Djanaba delivering her heart on her sleeve, speaking to individual dreams and the grit that comes with actuality. Getting comfortable with the effervescence that Djanaba has become synonymous with, the track is an anthem sparked by a combination of unfiltered confidence backed up with vibrant electronic pop. ‘Times Like SIS’ grounds itself in the reality of everyday life and its work-in-progress nature.
“’Times Like SIS’ isn’t just a song – it’s a reality” shares Djanaba. “It’s the moment you ‘wake up’ as an adult and realise you have none of the things you wanted for yourself. Instead, you have a crippling addiction to weed, you can’t function without medication, and you can barely pay your bills. I grew up with ideas that, unfortunately, never panned out and hopes that never came to fruition. I wish this song had a resolution that could be spun to empower, but unfortunately, the work in progress is still just that – a work in progress.”
