Today Atlanta-based duo EARTHGANG share their highly awaited EP ROBOPHOBIALISTEN HERE.

Featuring guest appearances from Snoop Dogg Tommy Newport and Spillage Village, ROBOPHOBIA is a sonic dive into new terrain for EARTHGANG. Picking up right where RIP Human Art left off, falling from the top of the building, EARTHGANG takes listeners on a journey through a dystopian future, examining the effects of contemporary technologies like artificial intelligence on humanity. With production influenced by elements of funk, rock, and hip-hop, ROBOPHOBIA creates a soundscape that not only reflects the sci-fi themes inherent in the lyrics but also furthers EARTHGANG’s long-standing knack for textured, genre-defining world-building.

Today’s EP follows the recent release of the official music for ‘BLACKLIGHT’ – a continuation of the EARTHGANG vs. The Algorithm Saga. Enlisting DreamMachineAI for the project, they explore the ways in which algorithms are affecting creativity and freedom. “We find ourselves in the hands of AI after the fall from the top of the building from our RIP HUMAN ART cover,” explains EARTHGANG. “Our bodies are being operated and altered to become symbiotic with technology under AI’s discretion. Hopefully, the rebels save us before we’re robotic slaves. The video imitates life as we become more connected and sometimes dependent on technology. The song asks, ‘can we love ourselves as we are without need for constant system updates and improvements?’”

Since signing to J. Cole’s Dreamville Records in 2017, EARTHGANG have emerged as the contemporary torchbearers of Afrofuturism, continuing to redefine what’s possible in hip-hop by blending sounds that challenge the status quo. After debuting on the Billboard charts with their 2019 album Mirrorland (#22 on the US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart), the duo has gone on to receive GRAMMY nominations for two of their songs – Best Rap Performance for ‘Down Bad’ featuring J. Cole, JID, Bas & Young Nudy (395M+ Streams) and Best R&B Song for ‘Collide’ with Tiana Major9 (100M+ Streams) off the Queen & Slim Soundtrack. Winning the BET Award for Best Duo Or Group in 2022, EARTHGANG has maintained their momentum with impactful cultural moments like creating their single ‘Swing’ featuring Benji (24M+ Streams) for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and their partnership with Nike for their ESSENTIALS campaign.

2023 was a big year for EARTHGANG – from the release of their RIP Human Art EP that saw support from the likes of Stereogum, Complex, Rolling Stone, GQ, Consequence of Sound and Hypebeast, to attracting the attention Adam Sandler for their ‘Bobby Boucher’ video. The duo ended the year on a high, appearing as special guests along Genesis Owusu’s hugely successful STRUGGLER Tour traveling across Australia, as well as their own headline shows in Auckland and Perth.

This April, EARTHGANG will be supporting the EP with performances at Dreamville Fest in North Carolina and Jax River Jams in Florida, before embarking on a three-date tour with Wiz Khalifa across Colorado and Montana in the US – find more information HERE.
