Bleed But Never Die‘ is out now, buy/stream it here.

Multi-disciplinary conceptual artist, Ecca Vandal, delivers a defiant new single today ‘Bleed But Never Die’. LISTEN HERE.

Ecca Vandal epitomises creative multiplicity – a rebellious and tenacious voice, with an explosive shot of adrenaline destroying genre-based norms. Looking forward, Vandal is tightening the screws: sharper hooks, starker storytelling, delivering anthems for yelling into the night. “Done with fools like you,” she proclaims on the pernicious ‘Bleed But Never Die’, Ecca dares to continue trudging a renegade path.

Indebted to chasing the high of living on a razor’s edge, from style to sound ‘Bleed But Never Die’ boils with Ecca Vandal’s signature blend of new wave, coarse punk and out-spoken nature. Her most overt display of influences in a hybrid sound entirely of her own, today’s release sees her strike a thread through Idles and Turnstile to Fontaines DC and Denzel Curry.

Her first new release after “taking a bit of a breather for my head, heart, health and art,” of ‘Bleed But Never Die’ Ecca explains, “It’s about building inner resilience, which feels to me like a pretty important message given the intense state of the world at the moment.”

A musical auteur, Ecca Vandal embodies the twin-soul of punk rock and hip-hop, with an electronic heart pumping big, energetic and nostalgic beats. Spending her formative years as a jazz musician, her passion for improvisation led her to fall in love with the DIY abandon of punk and foster an ability to effortlessly balance soulful melodies with raw, unapologetic power.

In just two months, Ecca Vandal’s compelling teasers have amassed over 7 million views with her TikTok following skyrocketing from zero to 40,000, with an additional 50,000 followers gained on Instagram, building up considerable hype before releasing new music. Today neither her sound nor persona are fixed for easy consumption. Political, rebellious, and tenacious, with a voice demanding to be heard; Ecca Vandal is magnetism personified and exactly what we need right now.

South-African born with Sri-Lankan (Tamil) heritage and an upbringing in Naarm/Melbourne, Ecca strutted her way onto the musical landscape in 2015 in traditional punk-style with an edgy disposition and something to say. Ecca’s debut ‘White Flag’ hit the nerve of a raucous youth, securing high rotation on triple j and rave reviews. With the momentum of ‘Battle Royal’ and ‘End of Time’ in her wings, Ecca would go on to soar with her self-titled debut album – her biggest release yet. Featuring Sampa The Great on ‘Your Orbit’ and fan favourite ‘Future Heroine’, acclaim includes Rolling Stone who delivered 4.5 stars for the “vibrant, dazzling collection of tunes,” while NME lauded the album’s “absolutely banging, genre-bending anthems for a generation.” Ecca Vandal’s versatility extends outside the studio, just as comfortable in the arenas of Queens of the Stone Age and Gang of Youths, as with electronic greats The Prodigy and Young Fathers. With varied international headline runs and festival appearances at Reading (UK), Leads (UK), AfroPunk (Paris) and Download (UK). Consistently rewarded for her embrace of the challenge in juxtaposing her own sound via collaborations, Ecca Vandal boasts a stream of dedicated and diverse fans seamlessly across genre boundaries.
