I Am Digital, I Am Divine is out now, listen here.

Today, Erin LeCount — a UK-based, 22-year-old artist whose self-produced, digitally-damaged baroque pop sound and incisive lyricism have amassed a dedicated online following as well as early press notices from the likes of The Guardian and Teen Vogue — shares her new EP, I Am Digital, I Am Divine.

I Am Digital, I Am Divine unveils a remarkable and fully-realized vision of postmodern pop music. These five songs inject the high drama and gothic Victorian backdrop of Kate Bush with the artful electronic production flourishes of oklou or Imogen Heap, all delivered with an undeniable vocal power reminiscent of Florence & The Machine.

It’s a project that heralds the arrival of a vital, innovative, and deeply intentional new voice — as CLASH writes, “the work of an artist too young to know where the boundaries lie.”

Erin has also shared a new video for “Godspeed,” a scathing track that packs complex writerly detail into a propulsive, pop-savvy package.

As Erin shares:

“‘Godspeed” was written as an ode to my younger self and a warning to the new girl that my ex partner found after me. This song is the feeling of your head spinning, frustration and fear — the lyrics tell the story of a repeating cycle of hurt that you experienced and now have to witness play out again to someone else.”

“The song was a release of complicated emotions I had about speaking up against someone I loved and telling people what I had experienced, the idea that if I loved someone “till my dying breath” that I was now running out of air and desperate to shout all their secrets. The girl in question actually features in the backing vocals of the chorus and is now a friend.”

The “Godspeed” video premieres here at 12pm ET / 9am PT today.

Early previews of I Am Digital, I Am Divine  including the privilege-interrogating “Silver Spoon” and the devastating “Marble Arch” — inspired overwhelming responses both in real life and online. Fans immediately sold-out Erin’s hotly anticipated London headlining debut, oversubscribing for tickets at five times the venue’s capacity. Meanwhile, both singles racked up tens of millions of listens on streaming services as well as on social media, cracking TikTok’s Viral 50 Music Charts.

On the transfixing I Am Digital, I Am Divine, Erin’s dreamy and atmospheric production — a sweeping and romantic sound recorded and produced by Erin alone in her garden shed — is cast against candid depictions of her relationships, not just with others but with herself. It’s this unfiltered but deliberate portrayal of emotion that has invited fascination among listeners.

“Me and my voice do not do what a perfect pop singer is supposed to do,” she shares. “My songs are questioning everything, and I think my fans are too — I’m a perfectionist and I want to know every answer.” But it’s that attempt at transcendence that captures something of what it means to be divine in a digital age.
