Naarm/Melbourne-based selector and producer FOURA today shares her debut mixtape Taste, out via NLV Records. LISTEN TO TASTE HERE.

Following a steadying drop of releases including ‘On Tonight‘ with Big Skeez, ‘No Time To Waste’ with Jordan Astra, ‘Can’t Get My Head Around It’, ‘Power’, ‘Glimmer’ and ‘Promise (feat. Nik Navy)’, Taste is the debut release from FOURA, an artist renowned for writing and sharing a diverse range of energetic, yet emotional UKG-inspired electronic, breakbeat and house. Taste is an apt introduction into FOURA’s wide-range dance music versatility, taking a deep dive on the genre spectrum between emotional, downtempo electronic soundscapes and UK-garage hybrids with shimmering synths.

Speaking to the mixtape, FOURA shares “This was initially going to be a 4 track EP! I found narrowing songs down challenging and wanted an opportunity to share all the genres and styles that I love on the one project, quite an ambitious feat being my first multi-track release. I’m so grateful to Nina (NLV) for the trust, flexibility and support throughout this journey, I feel like I’ve grown a lot finishing this and I’m really proud to be sharing it. It’s got everything from Electronic – to Pop – to Rave and everything in-between. I wanted to share my love of the club from being a DJ for 10 years, my appreciation of the more intimate and tender moments in life and celebrating the pure joy that I get from working with other creatives. I feel truly honoured to have such wonderful collaborators on this project, I thank them with all my heart. I hope you love this first ‘Taste’ of FOURA.”

Joining the world of FOURA is the mixtape’s focus track ‘Taste’, which sees her team up with vocalist/ producer r.em.edy. Together, they hail in listeners through their ability to steer a combination of R&B and dance-pop in an expansion of their creative horizons. “Tentendo and I worked on this beat together – I absolutely adore his melodies. He wrote such a catchy fun groove for it and I instantly knew it needed a playful, vibrant and cheeky vocal on top” says FOURA. “I heard r.em.edy’s “Loving All These Men” and just KNEW! I reached out and was ecstatic when she loved the beat – within a week it was done! She’s such an incredible artist and we’ve had so much fun working on this project.”

r.em.edy furthers this collaborative process,”‘Taste’ was actually a song I first started writing all the way back in 2019. I was really new at producing at the time so the production was HORRIBLE, so I naturally just scrapped it and forgot about it. But when FOURA reached out about working together and sent through some beat ideas, the song’s lyrics that were buried in the back of my mind, just blurted out of me and were a perfect fit.” The track also comes with a visual accompaniment directed by Lazyfair, which takes place in a convenience store and features both FOURA and r.em.edy.

To celebrate the release of Taste, FOURA will be hosting a Taste Mixtape Launch at Revolver on Friday October 14. She’ll be joined on the night by special guests Sofie Roze, Tinika, 非 Fēi , Savage The Girl and DJ BDE. FOURA will also be hosting a Taste Showcase on Saturday November 12.
