FOURA returns with high-octane collab with Jalmar, ‘N.S.E.W.’ out now
FOURA, the unique producer and selector hailing from Naarm/Melbourne today shares her next stream of new music, with ‘N.S.E.W.’ featuring verses from Naarm/Melbourne-based artist Jalmar out now via NLV Records. LISTEN HERE + WATCH HERE.
An anticipated follow up to her 2022 debut mixtape Taste, FOURA continues to bear her staple playfulness and undeniable energy on ‘N.S.E.W.’. In a showcase of high-octane edge and attitude, ‘N.S.E.W.’ is a fierce, hard-hitting grime-influenced cut, which sees FOURA combine forces with trailblazing newcomer Jalmar, an artist firmly grounded in the Latin-Australian community who burst onto the scene in 2021 and has gone on to collaborate with the like of Young Franco, Galee Galee and SonReal.
In an expansion of her creative ability, FOURA steers a combination of roaring basslines, humble backspins and shuffling percussion against Jalmar’s trap, drill and reggaeton-led cadence. Of ‘N.S.E.W.’s origins, FOURA shares “Some of my songs take years and some come together in only days like this one. I sent Jalmar the beat and he sent back these fire vocals! We moved quickly and jumped in the studio together, got everything where we wanted it and it was done. I couldn’t believe it. I love this song, it’s energetic and heavy hitting and an introduction into the heavier club music I’ve got planned for release in 2024.”
Jalmar extends the sentiment, revealing “This is probably one of the most experimental tracks I’ve been a part of. Love how super edgy it is. Everything for this track flowed pretty quickly. I didn’t write any words to the song. I would just think of a phrase and then punch in, it was practically done in almost an hour so I was super happy when the OG FOURA liked what I sent back.”
Following a recent string of club remixes for Luuude, Bru-C and Benson, FOURA’s return stands tall alongside Taste, which scored praise across triple j and Unearthed, Rinse FM, FBi Radio, Foundation FM, Music Feeds and Purple Sneakers among others for her “fresh blend of UK Garage influenced house, techno and breakbeat” (Pilerats). Beyond a stack of international support slots including Groove Armada, Peggy Gou, DJ EZ under her belt, FOURA has also soundtracked dancefloors on the festival circuit at Let Them Eat Cake, Splendour In The Grass, Falls Festival, Beyond the Valley and more, helming an expansive and immersive realm that is self-assured in style and ever-expanding in taste.
