Global star NIKI returns with new release ‘Split’
LIFTED FROM 88RISING’S UPCOMING HEAD IN THE CLOUDS 3 COMPILATION
|PRAISE FOR NIKI|
“While NIKI has gained an international following for her down-to-earth songs and social-media
presence, the singer is taking things to another world with her debut album”
“NIKI’s debut album Moonchild is a world of her own creation”
“NIKI’s sound is more established, leaning on the quippy lyrical intimacy of
an artist like Julia Michaels and a Billie Eilish-esque soprano waver”
Indonesian vocalist, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist NIKI today returns with the new single ‘Split‘, lifted from 88rising‘s forthcoming Head In The Clouds 3 compilation. LISTEN HERE.
In her sentimental new single ‘Split‘, NIKI, who was raised in Jakarta and found herself in the United States to pursue music, chronicles the ache of feeling split between two worlds and two homes. Written by NIKI herself and produced with frequent collaborators Jacob Ray and Bekon & The Donuts, ‘Split‘ depicts the emotional pull and turmoil that the pressure to continually adapt brings.
With the help of Samsung’s creative partner, global design and marketing consultancy R/GA, NIKI extended her stage to her fans, giving everyone a chance to be featured in her official music video by submitting content that shows how they feel split between two worlds #withGalaxy.
‘Split‘ arrives as the latest single in 88rising‘s long-awaited Head In The Clouds 3 collaborative album, following ‘Too Many Tears‘ with Warren Hue, ‘California‘ with NIKI, Rich Brian, and Warren Hue, ‘Don’t Go Changing‘ with Ylona Garcia, and ‘The Weekend‘ with BIBI.
Leading up to the release of ‘Split‘, NIKI will be headlining the Head In The Clouds Festival and giving the definitive performance of her career so far. The performance will be live-streamed via Amazon and VOD on 88rising‘s YouTube channel. NIKI will be documenting her behind-the-scenes journey preparing for the Head In The Clouds Festival – offering glimpses of rehearsals, learning choreography, and teasing ‘Split‘ along the way.
‘Split‘ is out now via 88rising and Warner Records,

At fifteen she opened for Taylor Swift. Four years later Complex hailed her as one of 2018’s ‘Best New Artists’. Now, at 21, Indonesian vocalist, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer Nicole Zefanya, better known as NIKI, crosses a new creative threshold with her first full-length album, MOONCHILD. Earning wide critical acclaim since her breakthrough EP, Zephyr, NIKI has cultivated fans around the globe with her expressive voice, personal songwriting and genre-blurring artistry, becoming a vibrant symbol of – and an advocate for – a generation of Asian musical artists. Claiming her place on the charts, from Spotify (e.g., Top Hits Indonesia, Trending Tracks, Teen Hits) to Apple Music (e.g. Today’s Chill, Best of the Week), NIKI has steadily garnered a loyal throng of fans, reflected in 851+ million Spotify streams, over 1.6 million combined social followers, as well as 405+ thousand YouTube subscribers. With her Indonesian heritage essential to her story, she feels “a social responsibility representing Asian artists, especially as a role model for girls.” For aspiring Asian and Asian American talents aiming to break cultural norms and overcome music industry under-representation, NIKI proves that the highest dreams are indeed within reach.
