Today, undoubtedly one of the decade’s most striking voices, Grammy Award-winning artist Baby Rose, releases her highly anticipated new album YEARNALISM via Secretly Canadian. In celebration, Rose shares the music video for her track ‘Better’, directed by Amaya Segura, and partners with Dropbox to give fans an inside look at the collaborative creative process behind the album. The striking body of work sees Rose arrive in her finest, most realized form as a woman and artist who has poured endlessly into her craft. It’s a moving snapshot of Rose’s own personal journey through sorrow and hardship for a striking self-study that evokes a beautiful sentiment of hope and strength. Sonically, the album harkens back to an era that came before her while simultaneously bearing her signature style, straddling multiple sonic realms, and carried by her larger-than-life voice.
Soaring with breathtaking collaborations with Leon Thomas and Elmiene, YEARNALISM ushers in a new chapter for Rose that carries through her singular sound with a newly found evolution from a renewed sense of self. With a tone that feels lived-in and timeless, Rose pulls from soul, gospel, jazz, rock, and R&B, infused with the spirits of the greats that defined the Muscle Shoals era and pivotal female artists that changed the face of music, such as Etta James, Nina Simone, Janis Joplin, and more, while grounding her sound firmly in the present. Her music is intimate and cinematic, the kind that lingers long after the last note fades. The album was executive produced by longtime collaborator Biako alongside Rose, who also soared as a producer and foremost songwriter on the album.
Even before its release, YEARNALISM has received large critical acclaim, lauded by NPR, The New York Times, Essence, Vibe, BET, Billboard, COLORS, Hypebeast, Okayplayer, Rolling Stone en Español, HOLA!, MTV Latin America, and more. NPR recently named ‘Friends Again‘ as one of the Year’s Best Songs (So Far), and YAMS Magazine proclaimed the album is “one of the albums of the year.”
Earlier this year, Rose won her first Grammy Award for her contribution to Leon’s MUTT album that won Best R&B Album, and soon after saw the duo reunite again on Rose’s lead track ‘Friends Again‘, which became a commercial and critical triumph as her most successful release, amassing over 15 million total global streams to date. Most recently, Olivia Dean announced that Rose would join her on her colossal US headlining The Art of Loving Tour that kicks off tomorrow in San Francisco, CA – easily making it one of the year’s most in-demand tours. The trek will see two of music’s most striking voices on the same stage for an unparalleled musical experience.
Additionally, Baby Rose and Dropbox will unveil an exclusive video and folder drop on July 23 featuring never-before-seen footage and creative materials from the making of YEARNALISM and the ‘Better’ music video, premiering across Baby Rose and Dropbox’s social channels.
Baby Rose is undeniably a once-in-a-lifetime artist. Having amassed over 41.2 million global streams to date, Rose burst onto the scene with her 2019 debut project, To Myself, which landed her early co-signs by SZA, J. Cole, James Blake, Kehlani, and LeBron James. The project received large critical acclaim from The New York Times, Pitchfork, VOGUE, NPR, Rolling Stone, Billboard, and many more. It was followed by a mesmerising NPR Tiny Desk performance for the books, a sold-out headlining worldwide tour, and major placements on HBO’s ‘Insecure’ and Kenya Barris’ award-winning ‘Grownish’. Later, the singer received a GRAMMY nomination for her contribution to Dreamville’s Revenge of the Dreamers III album and was also featured on albums from Big KRIT and Matt Martians. She also opened for Ari Lennox and Snoh Aalegra on their celebrated 2019 tours. In late 2020, Baby Rose made her late-night TV debut with an arresting performance of her breakout song ‘Show You’ on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. In early 2023, Rose performed the title track ‘Heavy Is The Hand’ for the film Creed III alongside Dreamville. In 2023, Rose released her critically acclaimed album, Through and Through. Featuring explosive collaborations with Smino and Georgia Anne Muldrow, Through and Through saw Rose carve out a lane for herself that was unrestricted by genres and showcased her extraordinary range as a skilled singer, songwriter, and executive producer. On the heels of the album, Rose embarked on a national co-headlining tour alongside Q. aptly-named the Through The Soul tour, closing out the year strong. Rose made her debut on the big screen in 2025 in the A24 film The Materialists by esteemed director Celine Song, which saw her performing ‘I’ll Be Your Mirror’ and ‘That’s All’ both of which were released as part of the official film soundtrack. In early 2026, Baby Rose returned with her breakout single ‘Friends Again’ featuring Leon Thomas, which quickly became her most successful release to date – both commercially and critically.
