Hanbee’s new album daydream radio has arrived today, joined by a new music video for focus track ‘call me yours’. LISTEN TO THE LP HERE + WATCH VIDEO HERE.

Weaving tones of city pop into her indie-pop and singer/songwriter roots, daydream radio is a product of a year between Auckland and Seoul. Produced in collaboration with Seoul producer Hyunmin Lee, known best for his work with Japanese Pop artist Taichi Mukai, it’s a project that stays true to the city and nature juxtaposition that has been consistent across her discography.

In her words, “daydream radio is all about being free in your mind, dreaming about places you’d like to be, with people you’d like to be with. Anything could be your peace – from beautiful sunsets, warm breezes, watching the waves come and go endlessly, to staying cozy in your room, feeling true love, or simply taking an afternoon coffee break. In the daydream world you can be as free as you want; wherever or whatever you’re looking for, daydream radio will find the right one just for you.”

Highlighted today is ‘call me yours’, which alongside its animated video is a track that leans into hanbee’s smooth yet cutting edge city pop interpretation that pervades throughout the album. Of the release, hanbee reveals it is a “sweet melody about two lovers – dreaming about the moment to confess their feelings to each other; to finally call each other their own. In the meantime, they love to take walks on the beach, watch the clouds float by, and simply enjoy sitting together on the warm sand with the waves lapping at their feet.”

Including singles ‘tomato baby’ and ‘city time’, each met with praise across triple j, Sniffers, Rolling Stone, Frankie Magazine and more, the release of daydream radio today steps up with a series of tracks that romanticise life across borders, comfortably summoning the spirit of Beabadoobee or Luna Li. Made with the support of NZ On Air, across the album hanbee has also enlisted longtime visual collaborator Chris Antonio as well as Hyunny Lee and Luke Byatt, with all music videos for the album being filmed by Sydney’s Brad Kim.

With a buttery smooth sound, likened to that of Benee, Clairo and Kali Uchis, hanbee is a fast-rising Korean indie pop singer from Auckland, New Zealand. Following the release of her debut album small love – with her song ‘strange’ listed in Apple Music Korea’s 100 Best Songs of 2024 and awarded the platform’s Up Next artist – hanbee has been marked by steady growth and acclaim, having been freshly announced as a YouTube Foundry Ambassador, she’s also taken to the stage performing at Laneway Festival, SXSW Australia, and alongside the likes of Men I Trust, Fazerdaze, and Telenova.
