hanbee shares sweet new single ‘days months years’ from forthcoming debut album
Burgeoning Korean-New Zealand artist hanbee today unveils ‘days months years’, the first single from her debut album small love due this July. LISTEN + WATCH HERE.
Recognised for her similarity to Clairo and girl in red, hanbee’s new single continues her sphere of quaint, crisp vocals atop saccharine instrumentation. “Days, months, years and counting” she sings, basking in the time spent soaking as many moments as possible with your paramour.
Of the release hanbee shares “Although we talk of timeless love, for us humans, time is precious. Spending all your treasured time with someone can mean the world – ‘days months years’ is about that very desire; willing to spend days, months, and years with your loved one.”
Here she bridges the sentimental pop charm of Sabrina Carpenter with the effortless harmony of Red Velvet’s more stripped back catalog. Visually, ‘days months years’ balances nostalgia and dreaming with the seemingly everyday activities we take to pass the time, made all the more memorable side by side with someone special.
Today’s release follows hanbee’s viral single ‘Strawberry’ (over 3 million DSP streams) from her debut project Seashell Cassette. Since, a steady period of development has followed from sourcing acclaim across Rolling Stone – most notably nominated for Best New Artist at the Rolling Stone Aotearoa Awards – Coup De Main, Sniffers, Tone Deaf to performing alongside Men I Trust, Fazerdaze and Telenova.
Most recently, hanbee appeared at Laneway Festival NZ and SXSW Sydney while her music has been featured in the soundtrack of ABC series White Fever, which celebrates contemporary music and experiences from the Asian diaspora. ‘days months years’ arrives today with music video made possible with support from the NZ On Air initiative. Just a preview from the window of possibility with hanbee’s fast rising status.
