“Waiting Room” is out now, listen here.

hey, nothing — the rising Athens-via-Atlanta duo comprised of 19-year-old best friends Tyler Mabry and Harlow Phillips — today share a new single “Waiting Room.”  Co-written with Andy Hull of Manchester Orchestra, “Waiting Room” follows the success of hey, nothing’s soul-gripping indie folk EP, 33°. See tour routing below, (including Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Kilby Block Party), and listen to “Waiting Room” here.

“Waiting Room” instantly received over 2.5K pre-saves on the heels of teasing the song on TikTok for the first time — crossing 150K+ likes within 48 hours.

Of the track, hey, nothing say, “”Waiting Room’ is a poeticized account of recovery, expressing some of the negative and irrational thoughts that are had while on the mend. As people who are usually self sufficient, it’s easy to become slightly bitter and rejective of aid while in pain. This song was written to communicate the fact that none of the bitterness that comes from someone in their lowest moments should be taken to heart. It bounces between the perspectives of the person in recovery and the person, who despite trying to be of help, is being rejected and hurt. The dialogue, while being hyperbolic and sometimes extreme, is meant to express a mutual awareness of unconditional love and relational strength.”

hey, nothing have attracted an ever-expanding following with richly literary emo-folk that serves as a showcase for their indelible vocal interplay and their forthright, wound-excavating depictions of addiction, toxicity, trauma, and familial struggles. Barely 20 years old, hey, nothing — whose name is inspired by pull their name from Stephen Chbosky’s coming-of-agclassic The Perks of Being a Wallflower — have sold out runs of headlining shows, and garnered notices from the likes of NPR Music, Alternative Press, Pigeons & Planes, Stereogum, Brooklyn Vegan, and even their hometown Atlanta newspaper.

hey, nothing are charting a bold path forward. On their latest EP, there’s a mature, literary bent as well: part Robert Frost, part Stephen King’s Stand By Me, and part Joan Didion’s The Year Of Magical Thinking. Upon its release last week, the EP peaked at 130K Spotify streams per day, graced editorial playlists across Apple and Spotify (New Music Friday, Front Page Indie, New in Alternative, &more), and earn 65 Million cross-platform streams.
