“Sometimes I Get Emotional” is out now listen here.

Today, After Louise — a Los Angeles-based artist who injects her kaleidoscopic synth-pop productions with emotional candor and playful inversions of expectation — shares her new single “Sometimes I Get Emotional.” Listen to “Sometimes I Get Emotional” here.

Propelled by a buzzing bass ostinato that lends the track a baroque feel, “Sometimes I Get Emotional” glides through a vivid and dreamy soundworld. Its combination of layered gossamer vocals and red-lining ribbons of synthesizer provides ballast for its self-castigating expression of how displays of emotion, however justified, can feel like a humiliating weakness.

Of the track, After Louise says, “‘Sometimes I Get Emotional’ is about the inability to control how we’re perceived when we’re feeling something deeply. About trying to express anger and having it dissolve into tears. I think there’s something both frustrating and beautiful about the ways we reveal ourselves without meaning to.”

This November, After Louise will embark on a run of dates supporting Genesis Owusu. After Louise also has announced a pair of headline shows for January 2027: January 21 at Gold Diggers in Los Angeles and January 27 at Nightclub 101 in New York. See full tour dates below.

After Louise, aka Sofia Carrillo, is carving out her own space in synth-pop with a decidedly DIY ethic: a producer and multi-instrumentalist, she writes, performs on, and produces across all of her releases. Between her debut EP, Nothing’s Accidental — 4 million streams and counting across platforms — and the process-demystifying videos she shares with fans, she’s built a rapidly ballooning audience of over 200k followers on socials.
