Introducing indie/alt outfit Daffodils, the project of NZ-based artists Isaac KeatingJade BryhamLouisGraham and TheoSpike Salmon, with their latest single ‘House Across The Street’LISTEN HERE.

Daffodils are one of those bands that everyone thinks they discovered first. Since emerging in 2016 after meeting at a 1975 concert, Daffodils have gone on to win hearts and warm-up stages for international artists including Foals and OrvillePeck, as well as share festival lineups including Laneway FestivalNestFest and Rhythm & Vines with the likes of Rex Orange CountyClairo and Parquet Courts.

With a solid back catalogue of releases, including their 2019 5-track EP Boys, Daffodils have had previous singles lauded around the world (including a playlist addition by RadioX’s John Kennedy in the UK). Now, the band are steadying to release their first new song since 2019, titled ‘House Across The Street’

Inspired by the best parts of 80s new wave, ‘House Across The Street’ highlights their refined songwriting and production, piecing together youthful instrumentalism and blissed-out vocal layers. On the track, Daffodils front person Theo says “I originally wrote House Across The Street as a song to help me work on my understanding of how difficult it is to come to terms with people moving on, and being so close to them but so far away at the same time”.

Since the release of their debut EP, it’s fair to say the world as we know it has dramatically and fundamentally changed, nonetheless, there are certain themes that remain. Amongst the anxiety and uncertainty we all face, heartbreak and love lost have remained reliable truths. It is here, with final drinks being called on 2021, that we pick up with Daffodils, who have danced and darted, ducked and dived through the sunsets and the shadows of closed borders, closed bars, and closed hearts.

Daffodils are currently putting the finishing touches on their second EP, alongside a string of festival appearances and tour dates including Le Currents, the Marlins Dreaming tour, The Others Way Festival and more to be announced.

House Across The Street‘ is out now, buy/stream it here.
