Introducing Leftenent: Listen to new track ‘We Can Do Better’
Listen to Leftenent – the new solo project by Sydney-based vocalist/producer/engineer Antonia Gauci. Grown out of late night experimentation, determination and encouragement from some of the kindest souls in Sydney’s music community, Leftenent is making a glistening contribution to the electronic music landscape. Following the release of her debut single ‘Control’ back in late 2016, Leftenent today shares her latest track, ‘We Can Do Better’. Listen here.
Awash in sonic textures, the track pairs Gauci’s effortless vocals over hovering synths and muted piano, infused with the intimacy of St. Vincent and the restraint of James Blake. Gauci says of the track, “‘We Can Do Better’ is the reveal of the personal, unnecessary and occasionally destructive attachment I have with my phone and social media. It’s an observation of my surroundings, something I feel people can relate to.”
The wearer of multiple musical hats, Gauci has built an impressive career as a revered studio engineer beginning as an in-house producer/engineer at Sydney’s iconic Studios 301 working with sought after producers and artists such as Macklemore, Ryan Lewis (on today’s special release from Kesha), Will.i.Am, Alison Wonderland, Cold Chisel, DMA’s, Vallis Alps, Mansionair and more. More recently, she has worked on artists such as Body Type, Felix Lush and Anatole, is part of the Italo-Disco supergroup GAUCI and plays keys in Las Vagueness and Bus Vipers.
‘We Can Do Better‘ is out now.
