Introducing Musical Polymath Steve Hackman // New Album SACRED MATH out August 21
Composer, conductor, producer, songwriter and pianist Steve Hackman is a musical polymath redefining classical music in the 21st century. Whether leading the world’s major orchestras, collaborating with the world’s most compelling artists, or performing at marquee events like the Super Bowl, Oscars, and Emmys, Hackman is an original voice shaping today’s most important scores and concerts, dissolving the line between classical and popular music.
Today, he releases “So She Leapt, Unburdened, Into The Unknown,” a piece from the new album of original solo piano impromptus titled SACRED MATH, out August 21st. Hackman also shares a music video for today’s piece, watch it here.

On the making of SACRED MATH, Steve Hackman shares: “The beginning of my musical journey is at seven years old, just sitting down on the piano and just improvising…I believe that spirituality and creativity are two sides of the same coin. The improvisatory act, the creative act, is a spiritual one. It’s where we are connecting with something that’s bigger than ourselves.” Watch a full video interview on the making of SACRED MATH here.
2026 has already seen an ambitious music release schedule from Hackman that showcases the many sides of his artistry: original music for orchestra fused with electronics, and reimaginings of some of the great music of today, including Taylor Swift, Jacob Collier, and Kendrick Lamar, with more new music to come soon.
He has collaborated with Jon Batiste, Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Lizzo, RZA, Wyclef Jean, Steve Lacy, Doja Cat, Moses Sumney, and most recently with Charlie Puth, arranging and conducting the National Anthem for Super Bowl LX.
Hackman’s sixteen barrier-shattering orchestral fusions, which synthesize the great works of classical music with the music of towering popular artists, have led to performances around the world of titles such as Brahms X Radiohead, Beethoven X Beyoncé, and Stravinsky X Kendrick Lamar with orchestras in LA, New York, Chicago, Dallas, Philadelphia, Boston and over 50 others.
On August 14th, Hackman will bring his Brahms X Radiohead to Ravinia in Chicago, leading the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and three guest vocalists, coiling together two masterpieces separated by a century: the Brahms First Symphony and Radiohead’s OK Computer. The production explores the anxiousness and tension felt in both works and by their respective composers: Brahms, in 1876, fearing judgment in Beethoven’s compositional shadow, and Radiohead, in 1997, apprehensive about entering the internet age.

Steve Hackman studied conducting, composition and counterpoint at the Curtis Institute of Music, then went on to a fellowship at the American Academy of Conducting at the Aspen Music Festival — all the while teaching himself the craft of popular music as a songwriter, producer, arranger and recording artist: the two worlds he’s been fusing ever since.
