Today, Los Angeles natives Nitefire release “I’m In Love With Myself,” a single as un-self-conscious and confident as the name implies, though not at all cocky. After years of releasing singles and EPs to a cult following, the LA-based rock band is poised to bring their party to the masses. Listen to / watch “I’m In Love With Myself” here

Following their first release of 2024 – “LA’s Got Gorgeous,” produced by Aron Kobayashi Ritch (Momma, Been Stellar) – “I’m In Love With Myself” feels like a house party montage from the naughties Cali teen drama The OC, but without all that passing of judgment; it’s overtly sardonic about LA’s artifice. With undeniable hooks and sun-drenched indie-rock guitar tones, there’s nothing gatekeeping Nitefire’s music. They want to invite you into their world and for you to remember to say goodbye on your way out.  “I’m In Love With Myself” is like if Dust Brother’s wrote your favorite Sugar Ray track, with glimmers of Elastica, Cornershop, and the undeniable swag of Julian Casablancas tossed in.

The visualizer for “I’m In Love With Myself” is a visceral moving portrait of the band’s fun-loving attitude, set to a daytime LA backdrop – in the mundane moments, you can find the best times with the right people and the right soundtrack.

Of the single, Nitefire says, “‘I’m In Love With Myself ‘is about all the different types of love you have to master in your 20s—love with yourself, love with your girl, and love with world. It can be challenging to gauge your feelings when everything in your life is so up in the air. Do you know yourself? Do you trust your relationship? Do you trust your world to treat you right? Does it matter to know or can the answer only be discovered in every present moment? I love me, she loves me, God loves me at the end of the day. How can you trust that? Should I engage with it endlessly to find the answer, or should I throw on my jaded coat and fuck off?”

Fronted by Nico Geyer and Luke White, Nitefire’s lore blossomed when they moved into Marilyn Manson’s infamous former house in the Hollywood Hills during the pandemic, honing their sound in the storied home’s strange atmosphere. With friends living next door, they had a perfect set up for embracing a truly DIY mentality: “It’s a lot easier to get people to go to a party.” Their blowouts between the two houses spilled into the streets and were more often than not shut down. With that, they had their proof of concept.

With wonderful energy to lure them in and sticky, fun-loving rock music to keep ’em around, the band’s won opening slots for Wallice, enumclaw, and milk., hitting iconic venues like The Troubadour and Bowery Ballroom. In addition to SXSW and Southside Spillover festival, the band rounded out 2023 with their own US headline tour.

Following the success of their 2023 EP The Great, Unwashed, this year is set up with greater things still for Nitefire, to be announced later this fall.
