KUČKA makes directorial debut with ‘Eternity’, latest piece from debut LP Wrestling out April 30 via LuckyMe/Soothsayer

April 14 2021

Following the recent announcement of her debut album last month, KUČKA shares her new track ‘Eternity‘ with a self-directed video. Listen and watch HERE, and pre-order Wrestling, out this April 30 via LuckyMe / SoothsayerHERE

Eternity‘ follows the Perth-raised, LA-based producer and vocalist’s recent releases ‘No Good For Me‘, ‘Drowning‘, ‘Real‘, ‘Contemplation‘ and ‘Ascension‘, each of which has received playlist support from triple jFBi RadioRAGE, and MTV.

Visually directed by KUČKA herself, ‘Eternity‘ was filmed over a series of wet weather days. This time, Lowther turns the lens on her wife and creative muse, Dillon Howl, though a cascade of intimate close-ups amongst smoggy clearings, raindrops on car windows, cement highways, and more.

Speaking to the creative process and ‘Eternity‘s songwriting, Laura shares, “I had super intense visuals for this track throughout the writing process. It always felt very sensual, intimate, and close. I wanted to get the sense of being in a comfortable and safe place when the world outside feels cold and distant. The idea of the clips repeating was something that developed later on as I was piecing the edit together. By increasing the speed of the clips over the video it gave me the anxious feeling of how quickly time passes and how much I always replay my favourite memories over and over in my head.”

Eternity‘ is taken off KUČKA’s debut album Wrestling, out this April 30 via Soothsayer / LuckyMe.

 The project of Laura Jane LowtherWrestling is a record about young adulthood, finding yourself, and meeting your soulmate along the way. Like Christine and the Queens, Caribou, and Charli XCX’s most earnest moments, KUČKA documents her metamorphosis through her unique brand of “digital soul”. From ending a long-term relationship, moving cross-continentally, coming out, getting married and all the emotions felt in between, Wrestling illustrates that journey, processed, celebrated, and soothed through dance-driven electronica, ethereal vocals, and glitchy textures. In turning to write for catharsis, the album is also a moving dedication to Laura’s partner and Wrestling’s creative director Dillon Howl, who without which the record’s release would not be possible.

Written, produced, and recorded by herself, Lowther’s natural ability for conjuring earworm melodies is on full display. As a trained musician, Laura has steadily worked over the years to establish herself as a sought-after producer and vocalist. Her list of achievements is endless, having already worked with A$AP Rocky, on ‘Fashion Killa‘, Flume and SOPHIE on the GRAMMY Nominated Voices‘, Vince StaplesFetty WapKendrick Lamar, Vegyn, Nosaj ThingCosmos Midnight, and many more. With her steady and selective recent output drawing praise from the FADERFact MagazineClash MusicNMEEarmilkFlaunt, and more alongside playlist additions from triple jRinse FMFBi Radio, and more, today KUČKA stands tall on her own, ready to welcome us into her world.

“There’s beauty in the way KUČKA creates her soundscapes;
infusing them with hypnotic rhythms, and also sparseness that can really captivate”
