Self-assured and full of personality, MUNGMUNG’s craft teems with authenticity. Transporting listeners into a world of bold creativity, MUNGMUNG’s aesthetic is reminiscent of early-2000s, powerful vocals, and infectious melodies that are deep-rooted in the sonics of hip hop and R&B.

Pushing forward beyond this existing distinct style, ‘IAM’ sees MUNGMUNG lean further into a sticky pop-trap tone. Produced by Taka Perry (KATSEYE, Ruel), the track explores themes of excitement and opportunity that can come with making music, which MUNGMUNG shares “The first thing that comes to mind is… Polly Pocket! I reference her in this track and I am so chuffed about it because she is THAT BITCH. We make like Polly and own it in whatever field or situation we are in!

‘IAM’ captures all the amazing moments that I’ve had whilst doing this music thing – All the stages I’ve been on, the talented creatives I’ve gotten to collaborate with, the different-walks-of-life friends I’ve made, the cross-border opportunities I’ve had and so much more. The track is affirmative of one putting in the work and making the most of whatever comes from it. I am thankful and counting my lucky stars to be able to keep creating.”

Marking her place with her 2021 debut single ‘Missed Calls’, MUNGMUNG was met with excitement by listeners across the globe with her follow up debut EP MAIN CHARACTER, which made waves across triple j, FBi Radio, The Sydney Morning Herald, MTV, Complex AU and more for her take on soulful melodies and clever lyrics that linger. Her 2023 debut album, BOUJEE BBY followed, giving more insight into her signature fun bounce as well as a peak into conscious soul, landing FBi Radio’s Independent Artist of the Week and support across Complex Australia, NME and Astrophe Magazine among others.
