‘Teasing The Thread’ is out now, buy/stream here

Following the release of his acclaimed club-rooted debut project YSK, South London-born artist + producer Nate Brazier today returns with a brand new single ‘Teasing The Thread’, out now via Parlophone. To celebrate the release, Nate has shared a dynamic straight-to-camera performance video directed by Sarah E. LISTEN HERE + WATCH HERE.

Signalling a cinematic new direction for the producer and vocalist, ‘Teasing The Thread’ sees Nate take elements of experimental sound design and turn them into something accessible. The song’s contrasting themes of lightness and darkness are reminiscent of a film score, complete with brooding production and old choir samples. Speaking on the track, Nate explains: “I wanted it to feel haunting; equal parts vulnerable and confident. You can hear it in the elegant piano versus the knocking beat, which pretty much represents the headspace that I was in at the time of making the song.”

Nate Brazier’s artistry is injecting a breath of fresh air into the alt-R&B space, bringing colour to greyscale coming-of-age moments. Incorporating elements of experimental, alternative pop, and hip-hop, his music is steeped in the heritage of electronic music – but the difference is he’s writing about his teenage years. Think late-night street-roaming, listening to music in parked cars, and curbing hometown monotony with your chosen family. In February Nate set the tone with the release of his debut project YSK, alongside an accompanying 6-track visual EP that introduced Nate’s nocturnal world. WATCH HERE. Delving deeper into the club influences of the EP, Nate also curated a remix package featuring hotly-tipped producer p-rallel, NiNE8 collective co-founder Mac Wetha, Parisien DJ Tatyana Jane, and notorious party-starter, Ahadadream.

Quick to praise his influences, Nate draws inspiration from the experimental soundscapes of Burial, James Blake, Jai Paul, and FKA Twigs. His early releases have amassed over 1M+ streams, featuring on Spotify’s coveted POLLEN playlist, and has seen co-signs from Kojey Radical, p-rallel, and Potter Payper. TikTok has been a defining force in how Nate has released music so far, building his fanbase through a series of cinematic TikTok videos which depict the adolescent world he shares with close friends. He has accumulated over 10M+ video views on the platform and simultaneously picking up fans across press and radio including Clash’s ’Ones to Watch’, Pigeons & Planes ‘Best New Artists’, Notion, NME, Sian Anderson’s ’Next Generation’ on BBC 1Xtra, Jamz Supernova, BBC Introducing and BBC 6 Music’s Mary Anne Hobbs’ ‘Hit Reset’, ’New Music Fix’ playlists and most recent ‘Guest Mix’. In such a short space of time, Nate Brazier is an essential new artist to watch.
