PRAISE FOR Ninajirachi

“Shape-shifting producer”

Clash

“Second Nature is a flex of glitchy, industrial pop that builds its own unpredictable world while remaining danceable and fun. You can chew on the mixtape’s cerebral elements or just sweat it out, though either way Wilson’s dense production rewards repeat listens”

The Guardian

“On her first mixtape, Ninajirachi takes listeners on a rollercoaster ride through fully realised worlds of pseudo-ambient IDM, ultra-shimmery hyperpop and deftly meticulous, boundary-pushing aquacrunk”

NME

“Her music has a shimmery, fractal, fantastical quality balanced with the toughness of bass that bangs in a way that makes you want to get off your butt and get moving”

Billboard

“Second Nature showcases Ninajirachi’s talents as a producer, with a precise ear for detail and a singular ability for immersive world-building”

FBi Radio

“Every release from Ninajirachi showcases a new side of the rising artist we haven’t seen before”

This Song Is Sick

“Ninajirachi is quite the in-demand producer, so much so that Montaigne, one of Australia’s most established and sonically interesting pop performers of the last several years, reached out to her before her debut mixtape had even dropped”

Rolling Stone

“Ninajirachi is an artist constantly pushing forward”

‘Hand on my heart’ is out now, buy/stream here.

Ninajirachi today announces the release of her new EP, girl EDM out via NLV Records on May 14. With the reveal, she also shares her latest euphoric hard-dance hybrid ‘Hand on my heart’. LISTEN HERE + PRESAVE GIRL EDM HERE.

Following her recent avant-electro collaboration ‘Ninacamina’ with Izzy Camina, ‘Hand on my heart’ is the second single lifted from Ninajirachi’s forthcoming EP girl EDM, a project that sees Nina offer a fresh take on existing styles of EDM, combining her signature icy, glitchy textures with the club sounds of late 2000s & early 2010s. Tapping back into the dance music that raised her, Ninajirachi pulls apart the seams of hard dance, electro house, progressive house and trance with a left-field twist, exploring elements of individual growth with intricate production.

A euphoric and hard dance-leaning release, ‘Hand on my heart’ was written after a formative first trip to New York City. Pushing further into an anthemic dance territory, the track is ecstatically attuned as it mimics the nature of transportative night club tendencies. “I made this song after my first show in (and visit to) New York in mid 2023. That city was truly everything I’d been promised and I left feeling incredibly inspired” she shares. “I’ve played this song in almost every set since then. It’s a good picture of what I’m listening to right now. I’m always trying to make my own favourite songs.”

The news of girl EDM also follows the recently announced third iteration of her live event Dark Crystal, hitting Meanjin/Brisbane, Naarm/Melbourne and Eora/Sydney this May/June. Launched in 2022 as part of VIVID Festival, Dark Crystal is Ninajirachi’s flagship event that was created to highlight a brand new wave of forward-thinking club, pop, electronic, and dance music. Headlining this year’s instalment is NYC-based producer and underground fixture, Doss, alongside Ninajirachi, Cherry Chola, 1NN3R53LF and more to be announced. Firmly cementing her position in the Australian industry and international music landscape, the announcement of Dark Crystal follows Ninajirachi’s cutting edge collaboration with LA-based Izzy Camina on ‘Ninacamina’, and her 2023 4×4 EP which marked a new artistic era that drew from her earliest influences of electronic music, collecting praise from triple j, Crack Magazine, Clash Magazine, Bandcamp, Billboard, Rolling Stone, 10 Magazine among others. This accompanied her 2022 debut mixtape Second Nature, which saw her move the needle and attribute an impressive list of major career milestones including NME Magazine Australia’s cover story, Best of the Year placements in The Guardian Australia, Apple Music and NME Magazine Australia, a nomination for Record of the Year at FBi Radio’s 2023 SMAC Awards and a North American tour with festival performances at Lollapalooza, Hard Summer, Breakaway Festival and Imagine Festival in 2023.
