Today, Ninajirachi presents the third instalment of her club event Dark Crystal, hitting Meanjin/Brisbane, Naarm/Melbourne and Eora/Sydney this May / June. Tickets are on sale this Friday, Apr 5 from 10am AEDT – all ticketing information HERE.

Launched in 2022 as part of VIVID Festival, Dark Crystal is Ninajirachi’s flagship event that was created to capture the diverse local hyperpop scene with a line-up curated from an aesthetic with the dreamlike, nostalgic and hyperreal. A multihyphenate festival experience, Dark Crystal has forged an experience like no other, exploring the relationship with internet-culture fixation, memories, media, and animated pop world.

Following the previous two sold-out series, Dark Crystal has played host to the likes of Donatachi, Ravenna Golden, Lonelyspeck, Laces, Kenta204 and more, with this year’s edition highlighting a brand new wave of forward-thinking club, pop, electronic, and dance music. Headlining the third instalment is NYC-based producer and underground fixture in design, Doss. With a resume that includes remixes for Lady Gaga and Caroline Polachek, Doss was named by NYLON as “one of NYC’s biggest cult DJs” and recently joined Charli XCX in her iconic Boiler Room set in NYC earlier this year. In her first trip to Australia, Doss will be bringing her progressive pop to the dancefloor alongside DJ sets from Ninajirachi, Cherry Chola, 1NN35 53LF and more to be announced.

Of the lineup and the event’s conception, Ninajirachi shares “Doss has been one of my favourite artists and production heroes for as long as I can remember, and it’s a literal dream made real that her first tour in Australia is with me and my friends. Dark Crystal started as an idea in 2021 to throw a little party featuring my favourite artists.”

Firmly cementing her position in the Australian industry and international music landscape, the announcement of Dark Crystal follows Ninajirachi’s cutting edge collaboration with LA-based Izzy Camina on ‘Ninacamina’, and her 2023 4×4 EP which marked a new artistic era that drew from her earliest influences of electronic music, collecting praise from triple j, Crack Magazine, Clash Magazine, Bandcamp, Billboard, Rolling Stone, 10 Magazine among others. This accompanied her 2022 debut mixtape Second Nature, which saw her move the needle and attribute an impressive list of major career milestones including NME Magazine Australia’s cover story, Best of the Month placements in The Guardian Australia, a nomination for Record of the Year at FBi Radio’s 2023 SMAC Awards and a North American tour with festival performances at Lollapalooza, Hard Summer, Breakaway Festival and Imagine Festival last year.
