“Second Nature Mixtape”

FBi Radio Album of the Week

“Second Nature is a flex of glitchy, industrial pop that builds its own unpredictable world while remaining danceable and fun. You can chew on the mixtape’s cerebral elements or just sweat it out, though either way Wilson’s dense production rewards repeat listens”

The Guardian

“On her first mixtape, Ninajirachi takes listeners on a rollercoaster ride through fully realised worlds of pseudo-ambient IDM, ultra-shimmery hyperpop and deftly meticulous, boundary-pushing aquacrunk”

NME

“Her music has a shimmery, fractal, fantastical quality balanced with the toughness of bass that bangs in a way that makes you want to get off your butt and get moving”

Billboard

“Second Nature showcases Ninajirachi’s talents as a producer, with a precise ear for detail and a singular ability for immersive world-building”

FBi Radio

“Every release from Ninajirachi showcases a new side of the rising artist we haven’t seen before”

This Song Is Sick

“Ninajirachi is quite the in-demand producer, so much so that Montaigne, one of Australia’s most established and sonically interesting pop performers of the last several years, reached out to her before her debut mixtape had even dropped”

Rolling Stone

“Ninajirachi is an artist constantly pushing forward”

Thriving electronic artist Ninajirachi today announces the latest installment of her music event, Dark Crystal 2.0, presented in partnership with Heaps Normal taking place this May in Eora / Sydney and Naarm / Melbourne. TICKETS ARE AVAILABLE NOW.

Of the upcoming event and its expansion to Melbourne, Ninajirachi shares Last year’s party was one of my favourite things I’ve ever done. Dark Crystal is literally just my dream show made real. After it sold out so quickly I knew I’d have to do it again but bigger in 2023, especially since everyone’s feedback from the night was sooooo positive.”

The inaugural sold-out edition of Dark Crystal drew inspiration from an aesthetic and internet-culture fixation with dreamlike, surreal, hyperreal, uncanny, and nostalgic imagery referencing archived internet history and early-internet-era memories, media, and animation. Weird and beautiful, like the music. Melding live vocals, and electronic and DJ performances, Dark Crystal 2.0 is where you’ll feel Australia’s most forward-thinking club, pop, electronic, and dance music pulse through your soul.

Promising custom production, exclusive merch, and a line-up that highlights diversity and under-represented communities, the event previously celebrated the local hyper-pop scene with performances from Lonelyspeck, Hearteyes, Laces, and more. Dark Crystal 2.0 boats an intimate line-up including DonatachiRavenna GoldenSus1er and Scan. For all dates and ticketing info SEE BELOW.

This event arrives after a breakout year for Ninajirachi, with the release of her debut mixtape, Second Nature, landed NME Magazine Australia’s cover story, playlisting on triple j and Unearthed alongside community radio station FBi Radio’s Album of the Week, placements in Best of 2022 album lists for The Guardian Australia and NME respectively alongside praise from Bandcamp, Rolling Stone, The OZ, Pilerats, Music Feeds, and others alongside guest mixes across Dublab and Crack Magazine.

To coincide with the announce, Ninajirachi today releases a 5-track remix package of Second Nature, featuring hyperactive DnB, digitised Baile, and smooth house reworkings from international and local producers including Yash Bansal, PARIS, Motez, horlin, and Lamorn. You can buy/stream Second Nature (Remixes) here: https://link.ninajirachi.com/remixes

Across Second Nature, Ninajirachi breaks apart her cutting-edge sound to magnify the second-nature reality of her music-making process, one that is an extension of herself and a laptop, unbound by software limitations – pure muscle memory. Rejuvenating electronic dance music with layers of glitched instrumentalisation, each track across Second Nature is reflective of her ability to dive between pop ballads and hard dance including key tracks, stand-out singles ‘Start Small’, ‘Petroleum’, ‘Hidden Land (feat. Raj Mahal)’, ‘X33 (Angel☆Type!) (with Kenta204)’ ‘One Long Firework in the Sky (with Montaigne)’ and ‘Crush Me (ft. Kota Banks)’. Reserve your ticket to Dark Crystal 2.0 now.
