‘Who Let Him In’ is out now via September Recordings, buy/stream it here.

Obongjayar shares his second solo single of the year, new song ‘Who Let Him In’, featured as BBC Radio 1’s Hottest Record today. LISTEN HERE.

‘Who Let Him In’ is a pummelling release that bridges Obongjayar’s unique stamp of West African-inspired funk alongside his most danceable, electronic-leaning iteration yet. Consistently praised for the space he occupies as a singular visionary, ‘Who Let Him In’ highlights not only his distinct approach but just how Obongjayar has continued to push past the boundaries placed on his artistry – firmly swinging the door open by his own force.

Speaking about the release, Obongjayar shares “This one is for the underdogs. I feel like my journey in this thing has been about the underdog fighting my way through, cutting my way through. Somehow still here, all the doors shut in my face. If you feel like me, this one is for you.”

The single follows a steady stream of activity for Obongjayar who graced NPR’s Tiny Desk series with a standout performance of catalogue highlights including his earlier single ‘Just Cool‘; following his debut Australian tour, where he featured on ABC’s RAGE guest program and performed for 3RRR’s Live at Triple R amongst features with Rolling Stone, InStyle, VICE, Acclaim Magazine, Double J and more. ‘Who Let Him In’ is also featured on the upcoming soundtrack to EA SPORTS FC 24 alongside Channel Tres, M83, Skrillex and Yaeji amongst others.

Since the release of his debut EP Home, Obongjayar has emerged as a profoundly uncompromising artistic force within contemporary culture. Born and raised in Calabar, Nigeria before relocating to the UK at 17, Obongjayar has sold out shows across the world, been profiled by the likes of Loud & Quiet, Crack, Dazed, i-D, High Snobiety, Esquire, W Magazine, The Guardian and Pitchfork amongst others, won the Ivor Novello Award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically and become a go-to collaborator for some of the most prolific artists across the globe.

His staggeringly beautiful debut album Some Nights I Dream of Doors won widespread acclaim globally; and took him to his television debut on Later…With Jools Holland. He has sold out dates across the UK and Europe and continues a stream of hotly reviewed performances and festival appearances including Glastonbury. More recently, Obongjayar was heralded as one of the standout performers at this year’s SXSW and has appeared on landmark UK projects such as Pa Salieu’s Afrikan Rebel and Little Simz’ Mercury Prize-winning LP Sometimes I Might Be Introvert and continues to collaborate with a vast array of artists such as Giggs, Jeshi, Danny Brown, Kamasi Washington, BOJ, Nubya Garcia, Skiifall and more.

Today’s release arrives on the heels of his collaboration with Fred Again.. on ‘adore u‘ which samples Obongjayar’s ‘I Wish It Was Me‘ from his acclaimed debut album. ‘adore u’ continues to break the mainstream threshold, debuting at #16 in the Billboard Dance/Electronic Chart in the US; bringing both acts their highest UK chart position at #12, amongst local tastemaker playlisting across triple j, iHeartRadio, CADA and more. Throughout it all, Obongjayar has effortlessly moulded his transatlantic upbringing to create a distinct and lush sonic palette that is totally singular in nature.
