March 8 2024

PRAISE FOR ONE OFF TRAKS

“In a male-controlled and dominated space, Australia’s homegrown music scene can be widely criticised for its lack of involvement and representation of artists that exist outside of the fixed norm of who and what is successful…however the team behind Sydney-based writing camp ONE OFF TRAKS are on a dedicated and persistent path to change that.”

Acclaim Magazine

“Their (ONE OFF TRAKS) camp networks are the launchpad for ongoing creative growth and new industry opportunities, ensuring inclusivity and equity for their artists, today and beyond.”

After receiving over 200 applications, ONE OFF TRAKS today announce the 25 all-female, trans and non-binary creatives who have been selected for the Class of 2024 writing camp.

Coming together from all corners of so-called Australia, this hand-picked group of producers, artists and songwriters will take part in ONE OFF TRAKS’ curated song-writing sessions and music industry workshops held on Gadigal Land, Sydney’s inner west, with sponsorship from Beatport, Sony Publishing Australia and Audio-Technica.

Set to join the illustrious list of ONE OFF TRAKS alumni, including ARIA-nominated singer Chanel Loren, Siala, KARALEE, Anesu, tiffi, GLO, Dylan Atlantis and more, is multi-disciplinary artist POOKIE – an artist who exemplifies the importance of community, uplifted by the South Sudanese diaspora in Australia to celebrate her culture through visual art, poetry, and music.

Also in the mix is rapper, artist, creative director and songwriter Jamaica Moana, who alongside her music is also a leader in the Australian ballroom community, and rising soultress CD, lauded as one of the country’s most compelling new acts with her intuitive approach to contemporary R&B. Find the full list of creatives selected to attend ONE OFF TRAKS in 2024 below.

Now in its second year, ONE OFF TRAKS is a targeted initiative to address the gender imbalance and marginalisation in the music industry. Helmed by Carolina De La Piedra (Elefant Traks), Jannah Beth (Offbeat Collective/Elefant Traks), Minori Ueda (One Day) and Nazlican Eren (One Day), the annual writing camp provides both established and emerging female, non-binary and trans creatives with the resources, opportunities, and the facilities necessary to craft world class music.

Leading the writing sessions for ONE OFF TRAKS in 2024 is Milan Ring, Lucy Blomkamp and Maribelle Añes, each bringing a wealth of creativity and unparalleled song-writing expertise over the four-day camp.

Speaking to the sheer calibre of creatives attending the camp this year, the ONE OFF TRAKS team says, “We’re so excited to reveal ONE OFF TRAKS class of 2024! We’ve levelled up to be able to invite artists nationwide to join in for 4 days of writing music and making meaningful connections. These artists are ready to take the step in their music journey, which includes getting to collaborate with world-renowned producers Milan Ring, Lucy Blomkamp and Maribelle Añes!”

ONE OFF TRAKS also announce today their partnership with with JD Sports, who are teaming up this International Women’s Day to offer one final wildcard entry the opportunity to participate in in this years’ writing camp. ONE OFF TRAKS share, “JD Sports has consistently been a pioneer in championing culture and community in Australia, so partnering with them perfectly aligns with our mission. We’re thrilled about the Wildcard entry and eagerly anticipate welcoming them into the fold for this year’s camp!”

On the partnership, JD Sports share, “We are excited to partner with One Off Traks, a collaboration between One Day Entertainment, Offbeat Collective, and Elefant Traks. This collaboration reflects our commitment to supporting diversity and empowerment within creative industries. We look forward to working together to amplify the voices of creatives in the music industry.”

Applications are now open for Eora/Sydney-based artists, producers or songwriters for the final wildcard spot of ONE OFF TRAKS’ 2024 writing camp – more information HERE.

ONE OFF TRAKS is the first ever all female, trans and non-binary writing camp collaboration by between four friends, Nazlican Eren, Minori Ueda, Carolina De La Piedra and Jannah Beth, held over 4 days in April across the inner west of Sydney, on Gadigal land. Comprising of curated song-writing sessions and music industry workshops, the aim for ONE OFF TRAKS is to elevate music created by female, trans and non-binary creatives who are still feeling the burn of the pandemic as well as facing the ongoing challenges of working in a male dominated industry.
