The new body of work reveals a striking new chapter in Orion’s personal life and creative journey and is brought to life through the dynamic walls of Orion. Sonically, the album captures the evolution of Orion’s ethereal, boundless sound, presenting Orion like we’ve never seen or heard her before. Earlier this week, Zane Lowe premiered the captivating track ‘These Days’ on his beloved Apple Music’s Beats 1 radio show as part of the New Music Daily playlist cover and today Orion Sun shares a striking visual for the single. The album serves as Orion’s first offering following a two year hiatus, resulting in a deeply palpable body of work that will undeniably establish the young Orion as a major force in the music area and one of today’s most essential artists.
At its core, Orion is a heart split open, examined and mended; moulded into something new. And as it washes over you, there’s a sense that it’s not only fuelled by but infused with love in all its forms for self, for others, for the world around us – crafted by an artist who has met and knows herself on a deeper level than we’ve seen yet. ‘Already Gone‘ sees Orion picking up where she left off, capturing a moment in her life where the future she set out for herself drastically changed with the dismantlement of her romantic relationship, ultimately representing a transition for the young artist that sees her leave her life in New York and move to Los Angeles, and ultimately the start to the creative endeavor of unearthing this new staggering body of work.

Enveloped through a strong connection to nature that runs deep throughout the album, ‘Mary Jane‘ tells a journey of love and incredible hardship and joy that it can bring. Through an earnest exploration and surrender to love, she brilliantly soundtracks a spellbinding coming of age story. ‘Sweet‘ reveals Orion’s personal and strikingly earnest exploration of self, unearthing the complexities of our humanity in which we can find ourselves to be our own biggest champions while also our worst enemies. As seen through the standout tracks, Orion arrives in breathtaking form with her self-titled album, deeply multi-dimensional and brimming with earnest authenticity that resonates with millions around world, dazzling in its beauty and strength.
On Orion, she shares “This album, like all of my albums, is about love. It’s about the pain love brings whether you are with or without love. Pain finds you and tells you sweet things like ‘you will grow from this’, or ‘you wouldn’t have learned this without knowing me’. Pain has a point meaning pain has direction. Sometimes pain leads me to my vices like weed and alcohol, lust, and too many sweets. It’s the same coping mechanism as stubbing your toes but biting your arm to redirect the pain away from your hurt toe. As you can imagine, this path leads to nowhere. best case scenario it leads you back to where you started. I had to lose sight of my future so I could be present. I had to walk into the unknown knowing I could get to where I wanted to go even if I was scared. I’m always told to pick my head up but the longer you stare at the ground you begin to see it move then you get to see the whole world that lives on the ground. Ants like stars on sidewalk galaxies. I am of this world and many more, including the one where our love was enough and the world was on our side. I’m grateful for love because it makes you who you really are.
We are crazy because we are trying to forget how crazy it is to be alive. Why must I reach rock bottom to appreciate the rock at the bottom and the fact that Earth got me if nobody else does. Hope can feel like a prison or medicine. I want to understand everything. Why I feel the way I feel and why it hurts so bad. How am I able to talk about something that once wouldn’t dare exit my mouth without vomit following shortly after. I’m curious about life, especially my own and this album explores that. It’s ok to stay in a place/state of mind/being, just don’t overstay. I’m constantly in a state of arrival and departure. It will have to end and love will have to say goodbye. It’s just how it goes and that is why I believe gratitude is more of a medicine than hope is.”
Earlier this week, Orion celebrated the release of her new album with special, intimate events in New York and Los Angeles. In partnership with beloved NYC brand La Pere, Orion threw a party with friends and fans, fusing a moment of love and community that is at the core of Orion through a series of collage making and a personal DJ set from Orion herself. In Los Angeles, Orion partnered with the Black Image Center that featured multiple artworks from the album campaign, including the original album art painting by Malene Laugesen and collages by Orion Sun.
Additionally, Orion’s nearly sold-out North American The Rising Sun Tour is set to kick off on October 20th in Santa Ana, CA and will wrap on November 23rd in Los Angeles, CA. The tour will see Orion bring to life the electrifying nature of Orion for the very first time. Her close friends and rising act Cruza will be opening on the entire trek. Tickets are available for purchase now HERE.
The Los Angeles-based Orion has quickly cemented herself as one of music’s essential and most groundbreaking artists today through an impressive catalog that has become recognised as both critically acclaimed and commercially successful with over 381 million streams globally. Unapologetically complex, her music defies the confines of genres that profoundly speaks to her generation with an undeniable ability to thrill. A luminous self-taught producer and songwriter, her work draws inspiration from the greats that shaped her artistry such as Billie Holiday, Stevie Wonder, Bill Withers, John P. Kee Fred Hammond, Lauryn Hill, and others that remain central to her art.
Orion’s most recent body of work, the Getaway EP, housed a collection of songs that chronicled her own journey of self-discovery and healing and arrived to large global critical acclaim. It features production by Rostam Batmanglij (Vampire Weekend, HAIM), Nascent (SZA, Brent Faiyaz), and Rodaidh McDonald (Adele, Kanye West, Sampha, The xx). Her previous album, Hold Space For Me, amassed over 80 million global streams and solidified Orion as an artist to watch with her transformative, intimate art. Her expansive work has been lauded by NPR, ELLE, Harper’s Bazaar, Pitchfork, i-D, Fader, Billboard, BBC Radio, NYLON, KCRW, Hypebeast, COLORS, and many more. Orion is now a two-time 2021 Libera Awards Nominee for Breakthrough Artist/Release and Best R&B Record.
Additionally, the young artist’s star has continued to rise as she opened for Daniel Caesar’s Superpowers World Tour in 2023 and she recently earned a staggering writing credit on Bryson Tiller’s explosive track ‘Whatever She Wants’ that sampled her song ‘Intro’ from her breakout Getaway EP. Earlier this year, Orion was also featured artist on the track ‘ItsNotREEAALLLLLLLL’ on Fred Again..’s new critically acclaimed album USB alongside some music’s most beloved artists such as Baby Keem, Lil Yachty, Four Tet, Future, Nia Archives, Romy, Skrillex and others.
