The project of multi-disciplinary Anna Francesca from Vienna, Beaks weaves revealing poetry through bodied anthems, landing somewhere in between waking life and a dream-sequence. With a visceral blend of indie, pop, punk and electronic, Beaks’ music cuts through the noise of a burgeoning landscape. In 2023 she released her debut single ‘I Dropped the Bottle’, which has since seen over 4 million streams and performed across tours in London, Tokyo and Berlin, cementing Beaks’ position as a resonant and immersive artist.

Today’s ‘TY (robbed the bank)’ continues her streak of musical intuition through considered songwriting. Deftly curating a world through music that communicates text through feeling, with the single Beaks’ forged world comes together through guitar distortion, lo-fi arrangements and raw lyricism.

Distinguished by the haziness of Roomer or the enigmatics of Sex Mask, ‘TY (robbed the bank)’ covers (track context). Speaking to the release, Beaks shares “Looking at the scene right now, young people in fashion, in music, you will see a lot of darkness. Not only in aesthetic but also in expression, and I myself am no exception. They say that might be a mirror of the state of society or who knows, but It makes me sad sometimes. With this song and video I tried to remind myself of all the love we receive and the love we give and how it feels so bright and warm and colourful if you let it. I mean is there a more beautiful thing than to run across a sunny field together, and to properly scratch your shins and bruise your knees and all? ‘TY (robbed the bank)’ is homage to friendship and to loving out loud.”

A multidisciplinary artist, Beaks (Anna Francesca) studied photography and graphic design while working as an international model, having walking for high-profile brands including Celine, Vivienne Westwood, Miu Miu, Chanel and more. Modelling, however, was always a side quest. Always feeling pulled to creativity, her poetry and growing body of work, Beaks filters snapshots of life through her own writings, sometimes existentialist, sometimes orientated towards the pressure of modernity, sometimes both.

Fascinated with the space between dreams and reality, Beaks crafts an emotionally charged and off-kilter sonic world through songwriting and true self-expression that embraces contradiction, tracing the coexistence between ecstasy and despair with lyrical precision.
