PRAISE FOR Pond

“ARIA #2 Aus Album Chart”

“ARIA #3 Vinyl Album Chart”

“ARIA #19 Album Chart ”

“Terrestrials reckons with humanity's hell-bent instinct to destroy our natural resources and landscapes. But its kinetic music also hums with optimism… Our collective future may not look so bright, but Pond's? Ditching their usual methods has opened them up for a whole new chapter of sonic and lyrical creativity.”

Double J (Feature Album)

“Terrestrials feels at once futuristic and retro. On the album, time and circumstance isn’t linear – it’s all over the place. And it is funny and ridiculous, as he says, but marred by a dark undercurrent, a gnawing sense of existentialist dread. The dread is inescapable, but “a vein of hope” persists through the music, just as it does in life”

The Music (Cover)

“Some bands have a strong sense of place simply in the way they sound”

The Australian ★★★★

“They boil everything down to its very essence… Pond will always exist in their own weird and wonky world, but it’s a place that everyone should visit”

DIY Mag ★★★★

“Pyschedelic voyagers dispense with cosmic enquiry in favour of urgent riff-rock and taut synths”

Uncut 8/10

“The kind of songs that sound huge from the first time you hear it”

Stereogum

“The band explore the contradictions rife in society, and how mankind has an unwavering appetite for both items of beauty, as well as items of destruction”

NME ('Terrestrials')

“To understand Pond, you need to go west. Travel to a place of “molten roads” and “wide, brown land”, a place of “red mist” and “the cruel hissing sea”, a place of terrestrials”

Frankie Magazine

“Terrestrials may tackle some harrowing themes, but - instrumentally - it's a fun listen. And Pond's virtuosic playing and mateship always shines through”

Following on from a headline tour across the US, including a dream run with Djo, Australian rock stalwarts Pond today announce their local run of Terrestrials tour dates. Presented by Spinning Top and Cornershop Agency, tickets are on sale now. BUY TIX HERE.

Come December Pond will take to a Fremantle home show, supported by Automatic, alongside Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney with further support acts to be announced, boasting an all new live show experience. Revered for their one of a kind performances and Nick Allbrook’s singular “shrieking charm” on stage and in the crowd, wherever they take to Pond “prove why it stands among the most creative and adventurous live acts in psychedelic rock today” (First Ill No Flash).

Over their recent US dates, the Chicago Music Guide noted “Pond spent the night demonstrating that psychedelic rock can be loud, contemporary, strange, danceable, and occasionally ferocious without abandoning what made the genre its own thing in the first place.” The upcoming Australian shows land in support of Pond’s recent album Terrestrials, praised as one of Rolling Stone’s Best Australian Albums of the Year to date.

The group, which consists of Nick Allbrook, Jay Watson, Joe Ryan, Jamie Terry, and James Ireland, exist to create – the myriad of crossovers between their projects individually and the scene they first put on the map continues today – and that pursuit is set to persist forever no doubt. Their eleventh album was conceived from a place of reverence for a particularly potent epoch in Oz rock, twitching with the desperation of people and planet on the brink, but ultimately bets on the beauty of both to prevail.

Celebrated internationally across Stereogum, The Line Of Best Fit, FLOOD, NME, Face Melts and many more, praising the group’s considered reflection of so-called Australia. 10 Magazine put it best, naming Terrestrials “one of the most interesting albums of the year so far – a record that feels far more indebted to post-punk and new wave than traditional Aussie rock.” These shows are not to be missed.
