Resavoir Release New Single “Life Before”
Today, Resavoir are back with new (old) music: “Life Before,” a reflective miniature that stirs the haze of a distant memory. Listen to “Life Before” here.
Originally commissioned by Chicago’s Public Media Institute for their 2020 real-time history-writing publication Quarantine Times, “Life Before” goes wide in the wake of Resavoir’s 2023 self-titled LP Resavoir (which followed their 2019 debut LP, also titled Resavoir), and ahead of their UK, EU, and US shows in November/December 2024.
“Life Before” was composed by Resavoir bandleader Will Miller in collaboration with graphic designer and illustrator Crystal Zapata. Drawing inspiration from the works of 1960s and 70s Italian film composers like Piero Umiliani, Piero Piccioni, and Alessandro Alessandroni, the track blends piano and synthesizer by Miller with double bass by Lane Beckstrom and drums by Peter Manheim.
To complete their collaboration, Zapata created a visual score for the music of “Life Before,” which you can watch here.
On Thursday, December 19 in Chicago, Thalia Hall will host Orchestra Resavoir – presenting Resavoir in its largest formation yet, complete with strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion, and special guests, while Mei Semones will open the show. Find more info and purchase tickets here.
