Vlossom returns with redemptive psych-pop cut ‘Burn3r’
Vlossom, the project of acclaimed Australian musician Alister Wright (Cloud Control, Godess911) today returns with his first new music in two years, with the ascendent ‘Burn3r’. LISTEN HERE.
Curated by Alister Wright and renowned musician Nick Littlemore (PNAU, Empire of the Sun), Vlossom first staked their claim in the local Eora / Sydney scene for consistently pushing sonic boundaries and symphonising elements of shoegaze and electronica into multisensory realms. Now with Alister Wright leading on a solo endeavour, Vlossom returns with a refined vision, backed with an affirming sense of the project’s previous signature futurism.
Reflective of the fresh step in music making, today’s release ‘Burn3r’ arrives with an interpretation of redemption. Balancing a DIY pop-rock hybrid with feel-good psychedelia, the track is a detailed wall of sound akin to that of Toro Y Moi or George Clanton. Speaking to the release, Wright shares “This is a story of REDEMPTION. I got absolutely nailed over the last couple of years and I didn’t want to make music any more. ‘Burn3r’ was the soundtrack to my training montage while I was ripping dance moves in the garage. Now I want to share it with my friends so we can rip it together.”
Since forming in 2019, Vlossom has drawn wide notoriety across their back catalogue, from their debut EP My Friend in 2020, to their feature on ‘Lucky’ with PNAU which has clocked over 60 million collective streams. Garnering acclaim for their “suitably trippy” (triple j) and “vibrant” (Rolling Stone) sound, Vlossom have seen continued community radio support from FBi Radio, 2SER, SYN FM, and 3RRR among others, with further praise earned from triple j with their cover of Tracey Chapman’s ‘Fast Car’ for Like A Version.
