Waxahatchee 2024 AU Tour
The moniker of one of the hardest working singer-songwriters in the game, Katie Crutchfield, was born in Alabama, grew up near Waxahatchee Creek, and later skipped town, striking out on her own as Waxahatchee. That was over a decade ago. Crutchfield says she never knew the road would lead her here, but after six critically acclaimed albums, she’s never felt more confident in herself as an artist.
While her sound has evolved from lo-fi folk to lush alt-tinged country, her voice has always remained the same. Honest and close, poetic with Southern lilting. Determined in her desires and convictions, ready to tell whoever will listen. Saint Cloud was a breakthrough album for Waxahatchee, and despite being released at the height of the pandemic it entered #1 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Chart and Top 10 on the Emerging Artist Chart, critically praised as a welcome musical escape for many and cemented her status as an important voice in the indie-Americana scene.
Her latest, Tigers Blood continues her stream of success, with praise globally for her her incisive, ethnological observations of self and others from Double J, Triple R, 2SER, and more locally through NPR, Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, The Wall Street Journal, New York Times and many more abroad. Joined by features from MJ Lenderman, with whom she performed on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Spencer Tweedy and Phil Cook, Tigers Blood continues to break new ground and legions of fans for Waxahatchee. Digging even deeper than before, the complex and beautiful album will receive its live Australian debut this December.
